Hello friends!
One of my friends I was discussing with him yesterday about a very interesting topic happened to him personally. Firstly let me give you an idea who my friend is. He is a very educated person, has two qualifications as a bilingual, speaks English like a native speaker where he is not a native English speaker and owning position in a local English club as the first rank holder in English debate competition club. However, he never presented himself abroad to give a public speech to a

Hello my friends!!
Naming customs vary from one country to another. Having this huge diversification led me to ask this question: How did our ancestors around the world find their babies' names? Ethnic and religious customs and so many other factors can drive you to a strong, ethnically rooted, meaningful name. Is this not so? I have made some researches about naming customs in the world and I am going to cite about some countries
Both in Russia and in the US, babies’ names are com
Aboriginal (black) Australians have no system of counting. To them there is either one person or a mob of people. Then they talk of a big mob or a little mob. They didn't need numbers.
English has developed different names for groups of animals. Instead of saying "There is a GROUP of ducks" or "a group of birds" or a "group of horses", we have a large list of different names just to make it hard.
For example, a group of cattle is called a "herd of cattle". A group of fish is called a "shoal of fis
People say all time that each one has your own way to learn something better, in every subject, maths, physics or even English, I just want to know: What do you do to learn English, tell us, how it works for you...
Dear members
Another bad side of my beloved country.
An experience of years being among heterogeneous people and behavior of western people has greatly convinced me to review my fun blog which was written describing the repulsive attitude of western wife. Whereas, such kind of wife is found in majority in my country, especially in my home city, Karachi. These are thankless wives, who are suffered from complex inferiority and make their husband involve in corruption and other evils. Generally, Peop
This blog hasn't corrected, it’s full of mistakes. I didn't want it to be viewed or checked by any native speaker, as I usually do. Because I think it would be quite charming to be posted with mistakes. ‘’Blog fits with the title’’
In this blog, I want to talk about the mistakes that I used to make throughout my learning.
As far as I am concerned the learner isn't impeccable from making errors, therefore everyone can make mistakes and even in his/her native language. That could be in grammar, sp
This topic had been on my mind for quite some time. Recent events in EC prompted me to finally take a deep breath and write this.
EC Members who came to "know" me through chats, blogs and comments will realise that I tried to put things in more light and humourous ways. I tried my best not to take things too seriously in this virtual world.
Edward Bulwer-Lytton coined a very powerful phrase in his play Richelieu; Or the Conspiracy, 1839: "The pen is mightier than the sword". Though in EC world; th
Hi everybody, in one more post on this MyEc blog section I want to talk about reasons that lead somebody not to achieve the longed fluency in English.
#First excuse: " I'm not so good at languages"
That is a popular excuse for not to advance in fluency process, but remember that you have or not have ease in any idiom, the first thing you have to have is willingness to learn, the will for learning will lead you to another level of view for the learning process.
# Second excuse: " I'm afraid to
I know I am writing about something that many of you will not have access to where you live. But since this is a global community, it may benefit some of you. I recently acquired a Kindle Paperwhite from Amazon. The Kindle Paperwhite is an electronic book (e-book) reader (an e-reader) that has its own built in lighting.
Some of its other features that I appreciate include: the ability to change the font size (but it doesn't work for pdf documents) with a quick touch;
the ability to store a larg
I used to make mistake in writing the Number 19 in Words...I ll often get confused whether the Letter "e" should be there or not....
whether it is Nineteen or Ninteen....
This doubt I always have for almost all the words that ends with the Letter "e"...
I dont know when it has entered into my mind that if we have to add "ed" or "ing" or "teen" to the word ending with the letter "e" then that "e" (Bee is called as "E" in our Tamil Language) should be waved off... i think my kindergarten teacher woul
Hi everyone, down It's some points concerning to spoken English, which in my view, It is worth checking it out ;))
1 - Don't be a fearful speaker ;
If you really want to take the first step, dare to speak to everyone you can, since family members to pen pals ( sure, if they have some English skill). The speaking in English is the first and most important step to a sucessful and fluent conversation. No matter if you have a vast or reduced vocabulary, just start to speak, even all alone in your
When people use a particular word or expression, others begin to use the same word or expression. But if the word or expression is being used incorrectly, then others learn incorrect use.
For example, I often hear people such as news readers use the word "amount" when it should have been "number".
Number should be used for anything that is countable eg,
"The number of people who can fit in this elevator is 10."
Amount is used for quantities that aren't countable eg,
"The amount of water in the ocean
God made the illusion look real
and the real an illusion.
He concealed the sea
and made the foam visible,
the wind invisible,
and the dust manifest.
you see the dust whirling,
but how can the dust rise by itself?
you see the foam, but not the ocean.
invoke Him with deeds, not words;
for deeds are real
and will save you in the infinite-life.
Teacher Bia published a blog about the occurrence of Arabic words in English a couple of days ago. To my amazement, she has come up with 160 examples to back up the fact! Though I've never heard some of the words before, I could pronounce them immediately with no problem when I looked up in the dictionary for their phonetic spellings. It was good fun - I enjoyed it a lot! Here are the 160 words written in the form of phonetic transcriptions (phonetic spellings) and my voice recordin
Learning from each other's mistakes is very useful. There are many common errors that people make when they are learning a language. Learners who share a native language often make similar mistakes. This is because they are bringing the rules of their own language to their new language.
Members often send me private messages with questions about the English language. I usually ask them to put their questions on my wall instead. Sometimes I ask them to pose their question at the Grammar Help Des
"The 'mess' left by George Bush and Tony Blair in Iraq is a sectarian war, the bombs of 7/7 and now a man waving a bloody meat cleaver in Woolwich."
Malaysians love to celebrate, and most importantly, we love our Public Holidays. We love all kinds of festivals and thank God that we are from various ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. But whatever these festivals are, the most common things that bind them are; Public Holidays and "Open House" Concept.
Before I proceed with my ramblings, let me introduce to you the meaning of an "Open House" concept. An "Open House" or "Rumah Terbuka" in Malay is literally means that the house is open
hi my friends
I was thinking how i can find something that no one can steal from us. I found an amazing topic about this matter. It really got much benefit from it.I didn't forget to inform teacher tara about it.
Among the things that can be........
where no one can ever dare to take from you

Of all the things that can be stolen from you – your possessions, your youth, your health, your words, your rights – what no one can ever take from you is…
1- Your uniqueness. – You are unrepeatable. There is
Postcolonial English Development
English has taken precedence over many other languages during recent history. The rise of English as a global language has led individuals from English speaking countries to take the language for granted. In other words, motivation to learn a second language is virtually nonexistent for these individuals. In a specific example, a gentleman from Ireland commented that “Everything that we inherit, the rain, the skies, the speech, and anybody who works in the En
