Extravagance in Ramadan

Ramadan is a month for the worshiping of God, the almighty. If you remember, last year, we talked about it a great deal. We said that Its legitimacy from Qur'an comes from:

((O you who believe!  Soam (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you might be pious))

This is verse 182 of Surat Albagara from the holy Qur'an.  It is the proof for its legality. From Sunnah, it is this Hadeeth narrated by Abdullah, son of Khalif Omar ibnul Khatab (May Allah be p

Our goal is 460 blogs for this month. There are still several days to go, so we should keep writing or blogging until the last day of this month.

Our active members here have tried so hard to write as many blogs as possible for this month's writing challenge. Some of the members have already published more than 30 blogs this month, and they're still writing for the challenge. That's really something - I take my hat off to them!

Some of our members, however, may think they have run out of ideas or

What is Ramadan ?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Every day during this month, Muslims around the world spend the daylight hours in a complete fast. During the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking. Muslims are called upon to use this month to re-evaluate th

Yes, the idiom 'bite off more than you can chew' means 'attempt to do something that's too difficult for you or that you don't have enough time to do'. It seems I've bitten off more than I can chew.

We're trying to reach our goal: 460 blogs for this month's 'Blog June' writing challenge, which means we need to write and read many more blogs than we did in any other month.

I promised to write at least two blogs when I first left a comment on Tara's 'Blog June' writing challenge, but I've publishe

One million people die each year cause smoking. This is make the goverment make decision to ban smoking in indoor public area. Especially in capital of China by adding fines, approximately $30 USD. In Beijing, no one smokers allowed. With a good rules and it's punishment, soon Beijing will be a clear city with no smoke.

Hopefully, Indonesia, especially my city, makes this rules also.

THE CHIEF GUEST ALWAYS COMES LAST.

Objects, animals, and people are all the offspring of Nature. Mankind is the most superior of all the creatures, and when created all the angels were ordered to prostrate before it. There were all creatures on earth prior to Man. Some think that there were Jins on earth and when God decided to place Adam on earth, the Jins were removed, and Mother Earth was decorated with all the beauties of Nature. Beautiful trees with the prettiest flowers of all colors were p

Yes, 'conversational' means casual and informal. Colloquial words and expressions are informal too. You may have noticed the difference between formal style and conversational style.

You may sound informal as if you're just having a conversation or casual talk with someone. You're trying to convey your thoughts or opinion in an easy, conversational way, which may sound more natural and can be more persuasive or effective.

Yes, too informal or casual isn't a good idea. For example, if you use suc

SURROUNDING

I am in my bedroom. At the moment, I am sitting on the chair of a computer table and facing computer. My computer table is set near a window. Outside the window, it gives me a view of houses, trees, streets spreading before me and seems to go yonder. The view starts from near to far diminishing the things gradually.  On my left there is the door of the washroom. On my right, my wardrobe is standing. On the left of my behind, I have dressing table while at the back there is my bed by

June 21 -International Yoga Day: The World Bows to Yoga:

YOGA : LIFE IN BALANCE

It was a boost to the practice of yoga, when our prime minister, Narendra Modi called for the observance of World Yoga Day on June 21st every year in the UN general assembly address. He called it “India’s gift to the world.”

Yoga – The Natural Immunity Booster

Antibiotics and other medicines do help the body recover from the disease but they don’t help improve the body’s immunity. Yoga, perhaps, is one of the most effe

TONGUE

I’m a part of mouth. I’m the one which can make your mouth speaking. I can be defined as language. I spread information which means doing communication. The one who has me should be grateful. You could never miss a day without me. When you have me, but never use me, even just to talk to yourself, you need to go to a psychologist, I guess. Oh, keep trying to use it. :)

When you use me to speak, I can be sharper than knife, I can be softer than wool. I could lead someone become a rough person. I co

A Letter for Bloggers, Commentators, and Readers

Dear all my MyEC friends,,

How are you today? Is everything okay? I hope you are fine and everything is going well. How is your day? Is there something special today? I hope it’s great and wonderful. If you had something special, I’d be glad if you don’t mind to share it here. Here I’m on my long holiday at my parent’s house, my hometown. It’s sure I have so much free time, so I can spend much time for MyEC. BUT, I don’t think so.

Remembering the mon

Hello, I want to put too a little stone in this month’s writing challenge so here is my personal point of view about blogs.

As English learner I should try for the best. As Elen I am a bit lazy with English :D. Tell me take the grammar and read or take the vocabulary and learn new words, it is for me a little torture. I don’t like to push myself to read when I don’t have any serious reason. I will not give exams, so I will not read. I like to learn but not with this way. I like to learn while I l

Time Flys and I'm Back

I'm back to English club again after almost three years. I haven't updated here for so long. I got a nostalgic feeling because this website gives me a retrospect of what I'd done to learn English here. Look how much progress I've made! Now I'm going to teach children English. And I come back here to look for some useful resources. Wow...

A PAGE FROM THE BOOK OF MY LIFE

I want to open another page of the book of my life. It is about SAHR. She was very sweet and simple girl. She was introduced to me by my niece to teach her.

There is not anything romantic in this story, but want to show you a different compressed characteristic personality (it is because of our typical society, I assume such things do not occur in European societies).

As I said that she was very simple, but the unusual thing with her was that she frequently asked me

Some tricky words for a learner.

I know, I have problem with some words. And, they are not few. Here, I want to share them with you. Hope, it may help me and you too!

1. Shopping: Is a noun. But, It is really a tricky word  to use  in the right way. I did many mistakes with it. But, now I know, I have to say, I am going  shopping within 10 minutes. I did shopping yesterday. I like shopping very much! I am going to do some shopping. And, I am going to shop some fruits.

2. Too : There is a difference between too and so. I did this

I begin with an excerpt from my favourite book “The Little Prince”

“ What does that mean--'tame'? It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. “ It means to establish ties. “  "Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need eac
