Yes, you're quite right, the two words (besides and except) are often confused - 'besides' means 'in addition to' or 'as well as', while 'except' means 'not including'.

In my pitiable knowledge, show off is mostly an egotistical tendency that comes with a requirement to get praise/honor/admiration by others. It may feel them superior among viewers or in the public. Museums are awesome. Not always though, especially when you're in high school and it's Field Trip Day. And what place's better than a museum for the school counselor to half a** his duties? Anyway, how many busts should you see before they all start to look the same?
