Every Thursday I spend time at a local charity sharing my skills and experience in community support and development. A community can be as big or small as you like. The communities I generally work with are charities, community groups, social housing providers or local authorities.

I am a Social Anthropologist so have expertise in how communities work. The specific work I do could be anything from research or consultation; designing projects to help different sectors of a community work together

This weekend I am going to be talking to teachers about the "Learning English Video Project". This is a set of 7 short films about learning English. Each film takes place in a different country. I am going to show teachers an example from the film "Thoughts from Brazil".

I think MyEC members will like "Thoughts from Brazil".  It features some teens who use sites such as Facebook or MySpace to practice English.

Early this year, I was able to experience one of the most celebrated festivals in my country. It's the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival.

The Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival is held every third week of January in the town of Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines. This is celebrated to honor the Holy Child Jesus Christ. Local people call him, "Sr. Sto. Nino". It is common for devotees and tourists to carry icons and replicas of the holy child. Just like what I'm holding on some of my photos.

Oh man, oh man. I've got a fever. I woke today because shivering cold and sweating. I realized quickly. It's a fever. I have had some fever already tree days. 37.3 at Saturday evening, 37.5 at Sunday, 37.8 for Monday. And today I woke with 37.8. I somehow went to kitchen while shaking all over body to get some watter to swallow a pill of paracetamol.. After that it went up to 38.3.. but went back to 37.8 again.. Well it have stayed at around 37.7 to 37.9 the whole day.. At least the paracetamol
