There is a fun story-writing challenge that many fiction writers participate in at this time of year – the very short, very creepy story challenge. By very short, I mean only two sentences long! Will you accept this month's writing challenge?

Your Task:

1. Add a new blog post. Use the title "Writing Challenge: My Terrifying Two-Line Tale(s)".

2. Write a scary/creepy story that has a beginning, middle, and end, but only uses two sentences. Give your story a title.

Happy National Black Cat Day!

Today is National Black Cat Day. Black cats need a bit of TLC at this time of year, because they are traditionally associated with witchcraft and evil. Some people think it's bad luck if a black cat crosses your path. Of course, black cats are just beautiful animals and deserve to be loved and adopted just like other cats.

I've written and recorded a Halloween story this year about a black cat that is afraid of Halloween. You can listen to it here. If you want to read along or if you are a teach

Try to memorize it this time

Yes, I mean 'try to memorize the word that you failed to memorize when you first saw it'.

Some words are hard to memorize, even though you've tried to memorize them with all the means which you think are so effective.

I agree that 'imagination' is the trick, but sometimes it doesn't work, too. For example, I can memorize the words 'adoption' and 'adaption' with imagination, but it seems there's no way for me to memorize the word 'leper' or 'seism' by using the imagination.

Sometimes it may have

Thank you for posting this month's Writing Challenge, Luci! Here is my letter to my country.

2347144346?profile=originalDear Canada (my home and native land),

I’m so thankful that I was born in your protective and peaceful arms. That is not to say we don’t have any worries here. Just yesterday, the schools in our region were in a lockdown because of a murder nearby. But, fortunately, these things don’t happen very often in my region. I feel very fortunate to live in a country where most people don’t carry guns.

Your size is

I didn’t know that I was getting into hot water while I declined her chat call.  She got angry and pointed me out that how out of etiquette my attitude was.  She also said though blood is thicker than water, but friendship is also important and it is sometimes proved not blown out of water.  I was really in deep water when tried to pacify her.  It was like dipping a toe into the water.  My carelessness really put me in a position like fish out of water, feeling hard even to breathe.  I was not s

Sharing Is Scaring

Nowadays, the old adage, "sharing is caring" is no longer hold sacred. Though sometimes we seemed to be overly used it and it became cliche, but it seemed that people did not held true to the meaning of 'sharing is caring' especially in this world of social media.

I don't know about your country, but in Malaysia, people like to up-date everything in Facebook, whether it was to whine, to celebrate, or just a simple status telling everyone and anyone that they are in love.

And the worst part of putt

My beloved country, you're an archipelago surrounded with crystal-clear waters. You're a mother to 7,107 islands and islets which you consider as your gems. You're unique in your own ways! I know you're busy fulfilling our needs 24/7, but I'd like you to take the moment to read this letter which I prepared exclusively for you.

You have the most beautiful smile in the world. It's no wonder your people love to smile even under pressure or dealing with a setback. You inject humor in

Yes, I was just reading the newly posted blogs this morning and was trying to spot a common mistake for a blog challenge.

It's not always so easy to find a suitable topic or theme for a blog challenge, though. That's why some of the challenges failed to attract our members here.

Most of my blog challenges are about grammar, words or idioms. That's why I was trying to spot a common learner error in the blogs for a blog challenge. To my delight, I failed to find one, which means our members' writi

Out for a walk.

Yesterday afternoon I went out for a walk with my friends. They were glad to walk. We went to the forest. This forest is near my town and there is beautiful view there. Next to the forest there is a football field where some young guys were playing football. We stood watching the boys playing. Then we decided to go down to the forest. I asked them them why don´t we walk inside the forest. We arrived at a small river and we sat down near the river. We heard the sounds of the water, the birds and s

One Year on EC

It was on 1st October 2014 when I was searching for more explanation about grammar on Google that I found and joined EC. This kind of site was not familiar to me. I didn't know much nor did I really care if there were so many benefits I could get from here. What I saw here was I could have my own page and I would be able to upload photos. I got comments and made friendship. What about you? I wonder how you could get here.

After a few days, I took a visit again and chatted with some members. Wow!

Dear Philippines,

You are called the Pearl of the Orient seas as you are like a gem in the midst of the vast Pacific Ocean.  An archipelago of 7000 islands stringed together by lush tropical waters that on first view may seem so still and yet so dynamically pregnant with marine life.   Tropical green pastures and flora blanket every inch of your ground like tinsel wrapping for your fertile earth.  Your horizon gives way to an expanse of clear blue skies and shifting clouds that sometimes dip down

A Letter To My Beloved Country…….Pakistan.

Dear me, I am well aware that you are officially called Islamic Republic of Pakistan, republic in South Asia, marking the area where South Asia converges with Southwest Asia and Central Asia having Islamabad (City) as your capital, but Karachi (my Janam Bhomi) is the country’s largest city of 200 million population (unofficial).

Misdate [Conditional Sentence]

That was a cheerful morning, at 8 o’clock. I was watching TV and chatting with friends. Only about 5 rooms or 15 meters far, I had left my room with the sounds of rock music on so loudly. So, I could hear all the sounds of music, TV and our charmed talking simultaneously. Really youngster! lol I didn’t know why I suddenly wanted to enter my room. I sauntered into the room and felt the morning was full of piece.

I checked my phone and was shocked to see the message sent by my senior. I hurriedly c

Yes, people's opinions may vary, or rather, people may differ about something.  That's to say people may accept or tolerate something which seems so intolerable to others.

People come from different countries or nations with different cultural backgrounds, religions. They're educated or raised in a way which their parents or teachers think is right. You may call it 'brainwash'.

So, how could you think all the people around the world should always see eye to eye? Some people tend to lose their co
