Then Afro was a 12 year-old girl. She was in grade-7. During that time she was a bit introverted, a  bit unsocial, timid, less- spoken. In true sense, a very common figure. Moreover, a lot of people liked to tease her without any reason!

It was not like that she was in-attentive in her studies. But, somehow she did not get better treatment. Sometimes, she cried, sometimes wondered why people behaved in this way?

In addition, in first term exam, unfortunately, she got poor marks in science. She became numb to see her marks, it was just 57 out of 100. Her heart started pounding with fear.

Then, her science teacher spoke out. She was beautiful in the all way. Had good manners and her behavior was same to every student. That day she did not rebuke Afro.

Instead, she just asked, ''why did you get such a poor marks? You have good handwriting, you drew pictures but where did you do mistakes? Take your paper and sit over there and check it carefully. Try to find out your errors and I want to see you getting highest marks in the next exam, good luck, my dear!''

That was a turning point of Afro's life. From that evening, Afro tried her level best to make her science teacher happy.

And, in the next exam, she got 87 marks in science. Her teacher smiled at her, seemed she was happy. From that day afro believes, a word of appreciation can make a difference! And, still, Afro loves to remember that fair lady.

  • Wow what a nice story! Her science teacher was a gentle teacher. And although we will not meet them anymore, they always have a part in our heart.
  • Thanks, @ luci for your nice comments! Hey, nice girl!

@ Tara, thanks. Yes, teachers always play a vital role in their pupils lives. Recently I asked my kid's teachers to do the same thing which once my teacher did for me ( actually I had 3 teachers who were so nice to me and right now I have one too). And, I can see now she is more active then before.

@ Thanks a lot, Smith. It's my pleasure if I am really an advanced learner! I will fix that sentence, thanks.

  • @Afro

Let's work on the sentence 'From that day afro believes, a word of appreciation can make a difference! '.

First, you should have used the past tense. So it should be 'Afro believed' rathat than 'Afro believes'.

Second, it may not be acceptable to use a comma instead of the missing word 'that', so you say 'Afro believed that a word of...' rather than 'Afro believed, a word of...'.

It's possible for you to reword the sentence to improve it. Sorry I'm so picky or fussy - in fact, you're already an advanced learner.

  • What a lovely teacher you had, Afro. You were so lucky to be able to meet with her when you're still young and being guided by her.
