“The Hand that Rocks the Cradle Rules the World.”

What a man becomes in future depends upon his childhood, which is of two kinds, one which is received in a school and in company of friends, and he other which he receives at home.  At home the greatest influence on the child is exercised by the mother.  The mother’s influence on the child beings before any other influence because it begins when the child is still an infant sucking at the mother’s breast.

A mother, thus exercises great influence o

'Thank You' Notes (and funny stuff)

A 'Thank You' note is basically a short letter to express gratitude for a gift, service or opportunity. The basic info you should write in a 'Thank You' note is the following:
   - Address the people or service.
   - Say thank you (obviously)
   - Identify the gift.
   - Express how you feel about the gift and what it will be used for.

'Thank you' notes usually are serious and polite notes of gratitude ('Thank you for the lovely gift', etc) But they can also be a simple and private act of daily

7 Secrets To Blogging

1. Use a Short, Catchy Title

A good blog title is the first thing you need to capture a reader's interest. Your blog title does not need to be a complete sentence. It does need to be spelled and formatted properly. Use a capital letter for the first letter in every important word in your title. If you aren't sure which words to capitalize, use a capital letter to start each word in your title. Do NOT type ALL IN CAPS in your blog or title (unless it's one word like NOT). This is like yelling in

How Englishclub.com helps me.

I think, now it's time to say how this site helps me to learn. I have been here more than 2 years. And, almost everyday I like to be here.

One day, I was chatting in another site. There a member came and gave the address of English club. He/ she told  me that this site is very good so, I must see.

It took a bit more time to make an account here! In the very beginning, I became  scared as it demanded many information. Moreover, I faced trouble to add the profile picture. Then one of my colleagues h

A Father's Day Story

(I read this story  a long time ago and though I can’t remember the exact words but the essence of it never left my mind and I wish to retell this story in my own words and share it to all fathers because in it I saw not only the kindness of one father to another but of the sacrifices our fathers go through to give us the best that they could offer.  In my own life I have witnessed how my father paved a way for me to be industrious, to be honest and most of all how it is to be human and kind.  I

The one who suffers knows better:

Once an innocent young man was unfairly imprisoned.  He was released after having suffered this unjustified imprisonment for two years.   One day he was passing through a market.   He saw many birds, shut up in small cages, in a pet shop.  He was looking at those birds and remembering his those days when he was imprisoned.  He asked the shopkeeper what he would charge for all those birds.   The shopkeeper looked at the strange customer and told him the price of a

What Kind of Job Is This?

One day, in a sunny day, I was riding a motorcycle on a highway. As a good rider, I used complete costume and equipment, like helmet, jacket, shoes, gloves, mask, and glasses (I add myself :D). I was thinking of something I forgot to bring. So, suddenly I stopped. When I was checking something in my backpack, a man who also rode a motorcycle approached me. He only wore a short and t-shirt. He didn’t bring anything, seemed one of people around. He asked me, “Excuse me.” “Yes” I replied. “Miss, wo

Scene at a Railway Station:

Railway station in a city like mine is a place of great interest and peculiarity.  When a train comes or ready to depart, the vendors are in a hurry to sell different things, which most of the time are of inferior quality.  The chaotic condition at the railway station is very common especially in all the railway stations of cities of my country.  Passengers seemed to be in a panic condition, they push one another trying to get off (detrain) the train or get on (entrain

Blogging is like a way of advertising. In the field of our club, it is a way of monitoring the learner's response as well as the developments of our thoughts. It is also a way of cheaper hobby but profitable in return. It is also the simple way of making a history. It's a perfect artifacts, intangible and collecting memories when we were old in the future. It is a way of giving a piece of who you are to someone else. This club is like a historical facts while learning the language.

Hi all!!!

Do you ever wonder about your mind? What inside it looks like? Psychology is not my major but let me write about it a little in this blog. Just for fun and do not think too much. Human’s mind is something abstract, formless and cannot be explained by word. It’s something inside us, like another version of us who we talk with almost all the time. There are two actually, that help us in the term of decision making, thinking and feeling. Some people say we think by brain and feel by heart.

Sometimes you may not be so sure if the sentence you just made or made by others is correct or natural. Or you may be so puzzled about a sentence. If that was the case, what would you do?

Ask for help or consult someone

Some members may want to make sure if a sentence is grammatically correct or natural. They'd send a message to an English teacher or an advanced member here or just leave a comment on their page to ask for help. Hopefully, you'll get the answer.

Find the answer yourself

It was 15th of March 2012. In that day I saw my fruit in my colleagues’ tears . When our instructor asked me to give my impression concerning the novel “The Return of the Native “.The hero of this novel was similar to me. His dream was to teach people. So, it was easy for me to express his dream .

When I finished my speech, I noticed that most of my colleagues were moved to tears. I melted away in the sight of their eyes’ tears. I felt glad to see the effect of my speech on them and their great a

Blogging tips from a Seasoned Blogger:

How would I know that I am a Seasoned Blogger and am entitled to give tips for blogging?  Anyway, I give it a try:

1.  Every learner here on EC with a desire to learn and improve English.  I receive continuously requests from the learner to tell them how to improve English.  I always advise them ‘to read more and more, as much as they could’.  It is a bit difficult to develop the zeal, but it is must.  By reading, the treasure of words (vocabulary) increases.

Hello everyone…

My third blog this month is not about the blog, but still it relates to English learning. In my previous blog you can find I mentioned Literature Based Approach. This is an approach to learn English using literary texts. There are many reasons for using it in the process, one of reason is literature expands language awareness. When we use literary works in the class, we actually exposed many functions of written language. By reading we gain familiarity with many features of writte

Comment Etiquette:

My friend Seeker has already covered some main Etiquettes in his blog.  Such topic is very confined, and stick to the same points covered by other bloggers and repetition is unavoidable.   However, as I have pointed out in my earlier blog that blogging is all about comments, so:

1.   I it makes the reader obliged to respond by his/her comment/s.

2.   A learner has delicate sensitivity, so if the comments have the same polite delicacy then it will give an encouraging impact.

3.

It’s all about the Comments:

It is 8th topic on the subject of ‘blog or blog post’, so naturally I can’t avoid referring to the viewpoints given in my earlier blogs on the subject. Like I have discussed earlier that a writer’s first wish is to be read, read by maximum readers so that he would be able to get their comments to his benefit, to improve language and vocabulary. So blogging, at a learning stage, as we all are at, is all about the comments, which every writer, especially me expects and

I had written off writing on my diary after college.  I was having so much fun living my adult life that deliberately making time to write down my experiences was just too much of an effort to do.  I whisked through these years of my life like a rocket eager to encounter new frontiers so that even my greatest love, reading books, has been cast aside like an old toy.  I was engulfed in the moment and before I knew it life happened…marriage, work, and kids.

In the midst of this I came across phot

I posted this tribute a few days ago through my Facebook. However, I decided to share this tribute in here, but I need to put some note on the matter in order for non Malaysians to understand the reason for such tribute.

On Friday June 5th, 2015, Sabah was rocked with 5.9 Richter scale earthquake. The hardest hit area was the Mount Kinabalu. It was said to be the strongest earthquake ever hit Malaysia since 1976. As at todate, it was confirmed that 19 people were killed, including Robbie Sapinggi
