“The Hand that Rocks the Cradle Rules the World.”

What a man becomes in future depends upon his childhood, which is of two kinds, one which is received in a school and in company of friends, and he other which he receives at home.  At home the greatest influence on the child is exercised by the mother.  The mother’s influence on the child beings before any other influence because it begins when the child is still an infant sucking at the mother’s breast.

A mother, thus exercises great influence on her child.  A child when comes to school he is there with teachers for 4-5 hours, rest of the time he has to pass with mother and other family members,  besides at school the attention of a teacher is divided among number of children in the class, whereas this is not the case at home.  And at home who could do it better than mother.  Mother with her infinite love and sympathy, her understanding and her intuition is the best teacher for a child.  She can understand her child better than anyone else and, therefore can put the most beneficial influence.

The mother has, thus, a great task to perform.  She has to build up the character of the child.  It is, therefore, necessary that she must be trained for her role.  An educated, well-read and above all cultured mother will be able to help her children, better than an ignorant and uncultured mother.  A mother has the whole future of her child in her hands, just like clay in the hands of a potter.  She must be a skillful potter to mold a good pot out of raw clay. Most great men heave observed that whatever they have been able to achieve was due to the humble training received at the feet of their mothers.  It is indeed true to say: “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle Rules the World.”

  • Thank you Anah for your such a comprehensive comment.

  • I didn't understand the title of your blog at the first glimpse. But then as I reached the end, I understood it well!

I loved the example of the potter you have given in your blog!

I do agree with your point of view. It's really a mother's hard work to mould her child in an inspirational character. A mother is responsible for the outcome of the child. It's also mentioned in Islam that a mother has a great responsibility in training a child (up bringing  of a baby).

    Superbly written! :)

  • Mothers have great role in society and education is necessary for them, it is better for mothers to read about child psychology and nursing.

  • Thanks AReality, for your comprehensive comments and for time to read my blog.

  • Schools should have played such an important role in educating people, too.

Nowadays, however, schools here seem to be so interested in helping get good scores rather than in helping mould students.

  • Indeed, a mother has very important rule in the family. Thanks for sharing

  • @Setareh: Thanks for your comments and taking time to read my blog.
