Here is my (very short) story for Luci's (very) Short Story Challenge. I'm afraid it is a tiny bit longer than 70 words. Tough challenge!

The Blogger that Saved the Day

It was nearing the end of November when I realized I hadn’t posted a Writing Challenge on MyEC. I grabbed my journal, and started jotting down ideas. Suddenly, the lights went out. An alien appeared in front of me and made just one demand.

“Give me your journal.”

I tried to grab a knife, but it was too late. The alien was already wr

Sandakan - The Gateway To Nature

Some time in the middle of October this year, I had to travel to Sandakan, Sabah for a business meeting. This was my second visit to Sandakan, but when I visited it the first time, I never had the chance to see the town due to hectic meeting schedule. But this time, I had the chance to stay overnight over there.

First, let me tell you a little bit about Sandakan. Sandakan is the second largest city in Sabah. It's at the north-east coast of Borneo. It's better known to be the gateway for the famou

When I read Luci's challenge, I wonder, who on Earth can come up with some sort rational story line with all those words. LOL. Then it struck me, there's no need to be rational. I can come up with totally rambling short story and blame it all to an alien and say that it's my 'artistic creative' idea. :)

~~~~~~ The Story ~~~~~~
Since landed on this Alien Island, Luci found out that life was not so hard after all. Ohh! She won't call it a bed of roses either, but except for some bigger than elephan
Hello guys,
I was thinking about some "Challenge" and would like to test your creativity. It isn't big deal at all, just write a story - only 50-70 words BUT use these words:
DESTROY, TORTURE, TOILET PAPER, LIGHT, KNIFE, ALIEN, ISLAND
Just write a blog and give it title: Short Story Challenge: + add your title
All above mentioned words should be in the story so these who would like to give it title TOILET PAPER ISLAND can forget about it :-)
!!! I am looking forward to read funny stories from you !!!
Writing Prompt ~ -ible or -able?
It was an unforgettable morning full of excitement and expectations. Finally we made it, we will spend incredible holiday as a family together. Since there isn't lately anything impossible we decided to fly to the Moon. Our friends enjoyed unbelievable honeymoon two years ago in 2089 there and their experiences fascinated me so much that the Moon became my dream destination. We packed stuff and we were ready, our journey people 20 years ago considered something unrealizable, got started. Writing propmt: ible or able
Literally, I spent a terrible night yesterday. Whole night I couldn't sleep a wink. Actually I went shopping in the evening. But, it was a horrible experience by all means. Which dress I chose first was unaffordable. Then I went for another, I did bargain but the salesman made it nonnegotiable! After being failure, I went to dine in a fine restaurant with my family. There were plenty of edible food items but due to some unavoidable circumstances, I couldn't enjoy it. Specially my kid didn't feel
Did You Know - Curiosity Syndrome
Did you know there are many syndromes or terms that are based on people and sometimes unfortunate circumstances that befell those people? We may be familiar with terms such as Stockholm Syndrome, and its opposite the Lima Syndrome. Whereas, one of the most famous syndromes that I read is the Pavlov's Dog Syndrome.
Anyway, in this blog, I want to share some terms and syndromes that derived from certain circumstances or people, and the story behind the name.
Correct me in public
Hi Everyone,
Just as you can see, I'll try to make some corrections for anyone who really wants to be corrected, or whenever I see the "correction tag", which means you don't mind others correcting you in public/openly.
English is such a tricky language, so it's inevitable for you (a learner of English) to make some mistakes in your writing. In fact, we all make mistakes - even a native English teacher. But we learn from our mistakes.
The problem is that we may have failed to spot the mistakes in o
Hello guys,
today some melancholic and sad mood wanted to destroy my optimistic soul, so I decided to go through the best therapy - to compose a poem. Autumn depression is here, exactly as I have described it in my blog about autumn, now I HATE YOU, AUTUMN!!! :-) Just pray for me so that it would be soon gone and I wouldn't bother you anymore with some silly poems :-D
Here goes my attempt in trying to write a whole dialogue. As Mr. Bob said, just imagine two people talking to each other. I found it's not so hard after that. So, try not cringe at this conversation. Please be patient with these two chirping birds. LOL
Ina : So, what's the plan for this year? Are we going to visit Europe as planned or are we going to go somewhere else?
Ita : I don't know. I've been thinking about it a lot, but I still can't make up my mind. What do you think?
Ina : You know I prefe
Writing Prompt ~ A Piece Of Advice
Dear Susan,
your latest letter made me sad so the only one thing I can do for you as your best friend is to give you some piece of advice I consider the most effective. I know that it isn't easy at all to live alone after divorce and I know that you find each and every advice people order you sort of unreal.  Anyway, Susan, life goes on and my advice is: "Get on with it, girl! Don't be stuck in the past better live in the present moment." Another word of advice, which is on my mind and might be u
Did you ever wonder why the comments were closed for a certain blog?
You may have assumed that the comments must have been closed by a moderator or the admin or the system itself, which may have puzzled you because you didn't find anything wrong with the blogs or the bloggers. In fact, I was puzzled too, and I tried to consult with Tara (the admin), and it turned out that the bloggers themselves disabled the comments.
There are a variety of reasons for them to do this. They may not want to receiv
Hello friends,
today I would like to help you little bit and I hope my advice will be useful at least for some of you. You know, I have read many blogs here, no matter what your English level is, and if I sum it up, many times I have come across one mistake, which repeats over and over again. What is it?
Ok let me reveal this mysterious mistake... ehmm... wait, wait.. not now, let me firstly point out that  I don´t want to be here in the position of somebody superior, of course we all make the mis
Did You Know - The Court Is Ours
As usual, after coming back from a long holiday, my brain refuses to cooperate and think too hard. Thus, I need to stop this mental blockage and write something. But then the question is, what should I write? Another rambling? I don't think I want to torture other people with that anymore. So here comes my favourite topic, 'Did You Know?'. In this blog, it's about legal and justice, and hence the word 'court'.
1. Kangaroo Court
Kangaroo court means an unfair, biased or hasty judicial proceeding wh
Hi everyone,
Have you heard the NEW EnglishClub Learning Song that Jonathan made for us?
It would be fun to make another version of this song with the help of MyEC members. Do you have any ideas? Here are two ideas.
  • a karaoke version with MyEC members singing along
  • (Remember our version of Heal the World that Junco organized? I listened to it today and teared up a little.)
  • a version with MyEC member pictures (perhaps members could hold up a page with their country on it or their favourite thing a
Saint Martin´s Day
Today´s day is in the Czech Republic celebrated as SAINT MARTIN´S DAY. In this blog I would like to share something about this festival, which is full of the traditions. However, I think first of all it would be polite to introduce you Saint Martin. Well, he lived in the 4th century, was born in Hungary but he spent most of his life in France as a soldiar, later he became very famous bishop. There are many legends about his life but the most popular one is about his cloak, so let me tell you the
