To be or not to be....

Some say that achieving is a lot easier than maintaining, personally i agree with that..

Because most of time when we are willing to achieve something we would work hard, 24/7, give all of our best and keep saying NO to stop.

but once we have reached the top of our goal, all of a sudden we feel like we deserve it. After all the hard work, after all the sweats, after all the time that we have spent reaching it...we start to forget that achieving also needs to be maintained.

when we start to ignore t

Dear Learners,

Welcome to another set of lessons which I promised to give you this summer.  These lessons are very simple and easy to understand but lack of understanding them will make it confusing for you to use.

2347053249?profile=originalHave you been confused whether to use "in" or "on" in a sentence?  Do you think the two sentences below are using "in" and "on" correctly?

2347053316?profile=original

They looked okay, right?  But, they didn't use "in" and "on" correctly.  Tricky, isn't it? These short "words" (in and on) are but only two of the

You must have noticed that Luci, one of our most popular active members, has just left MyEC. Sorry, but MyEC members keep coming and going. I agree that MyEC wouldn't be the same without popular active members like Luci. Then, here comes my question: Who'll make a popular active member here on MyEC?

A popular active member should be:

So eager to read and write blog posts

They are so interested in what others write, and so curious to know what others are doing or thinking about. Whenever it's possib

Writing Prompt ~ Abbreviations

Student: I'm not sure when to use "the" in front of an initialism.  Are there any rules?

Teacher: Good question. You can use "the" in front of an initialism that is the name of a famous organization, e.g. the BBC, the UN, the WTO. But you don't use "the" in front of CNN, ABC, GE - name of company. I'm afraid there may not be any strict rules.

Student: It'd seem to be so informal to use abbr. in written English, right?

Teacher: It's true if you use abbr. in formal or bu

I would like to dedicate this blog to one special tradition, which is Czech Easter. You know, Easter is here related also to spring, it is actually the celebration of the spring and that is why we keep some traditions you might find very awkward or funny.

Let me start with the preparations. The girls must be ready, which means they need to colour and decorate the eggs for those, who will come around. Actually, it is not only about the eggs, they should be also ready with some sweets and for adult

Malaysians Are Weird - Part II

This is my second part about the weirdness of Malaysians.

1. The Warmth Of Chicken Poop

Malaysians are really weird that sometimes we measure things by the 'warmth of chicken poop'. Haha! Well, before you puke or anything, let me explain. We say when 'insincere invitation' or 'halfhearted attempt' as the 'warmth of chicken poop'. For an example, you are going to a party, and suddenly your annoying friend asks you where you want to go. So, reluctantly you have to tell her and invite her to join yo

“I am a pen, the only source of putting the ideas feelings and emotions mankind has in mind. (Though now most of you may not agree with my claim of being only source, because of the invention of key board), but I consider a key board only a medium which only represent me, I do have the connection of mind with me. How important I am, can be assessed that Allah Almighty sworn by me in the Holy Quran, in Sura Al-Qalam. Why? Only because Allah says that this is the pen which has put all the knowledg

I am sit on the terrace and staring/looking at the moon, I am thinking now that how beautiful the moon is, but there is also a spots on the moon, but we ignore these spots and always saying that the moon is very beautiful, I like the moon, you are like the moon etc., it means that the moon is also not perfect, but we like the moon by ignoring these spots.. Then why we people always notice the mistakes of others why we people not see the beauty of that person, no one is perfect in this world. We

The German world "scholar" Einstein was famous for his bright intelligence; he has won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for a research paper on the photoelectric effect, and evidence-based findings led to the interpretation of many scientific phenomena which classical physics have failed to prove.

As famous as «the father of relativity» being the author of the special theory of relativity and the theory of general relativity which was the first building block of modern theoretical physics.

My Formula One 2015

Even though I've been involved with Formula One Malaysia in various capacities; organisation or even volunteering; since its inception in Malaysia in 1999, I've never had the chance to watch it as a spectator. Last year, due to hectic work schedule, I didn't join my friend as a volunteer. This year, due to my poor health, once again, I didn't join my friend as a volunteer. Thus, I decided there's no better time to be a spectator than now.

So, I asked my friend whether she has some free tickets. A

Everyday, I have to wake up as early as 3 a.m. to get ready for school.  Getting ready means printing the daily lesson plan for my 8 subjects and other important school related documents.  I also have to prepare for my pack lunch since there are no food stalls in the village where I am teaching.  Lastly, I have to pay attention to my grooming because I am always surrounded by pupils of all grade levels.  This is my early morning routine but this does not make the hardest part of

Different Ways to Write the Date

Sometimes when I interact with US sites I'm confused by what date is being referred to.

The USA has a habit of placing the month before the day so that 4/3 is April 3rd. But in Australia and almost everywhere else in the world I have travelled, the month is written before the day eg, 3/4 or 3rd April. Thus, I'm never sure whether the date is 4th March or 3rd April in US format.

This is only a problem of course when one of the numerals is less than 13.

The convention in Australia is for dd/mm/yy (o

Over the last few years I have noticed a change in English usage of words that are both singular and plural.

Much of the change, I think, is brought about by people whose first language is not English. Let me explain.

There are many English words that are both singular and plural. However, plurality is now being assigned to these words by the addition of an "s".

For example, I often read an article that includes the word "accommodations" which is written as a plural. But, in English there is only o

Another silly rant! :D

Greetings Everyone!

First off, I'd like to thank all those who read my blog "A rant about nothing! :D" and took their precious time to write such awesome comments. A billion thanks to all those, too, who hit the like button. I owe you all a great debt of gratitude. It was so kind of you. I was pretty scared before publishing my blog because I didn't write in a while and I myself found the blog awful. These are not just words, I mean it. So I wasn't really expecting many comments but you proved me

Don't you think it should be little bit special? Ok, ok so let me start with my speech. Ohh...by the way you can come across many times two numbers: 1 and 100. Weird coinscidence!

Firstly I want to point out that I still wonder, how I was able to write 100 blogs within even not 1 year. Actually, in 1 month it is going to be 1 year I started blogging here and I think I went totally mad and obsessed with it!!!

Do you still have difficulty understanding what other people say in English on the radio or TV or in a movie?  Do you think that you're still unable to express yourself effectively in an English conversation? If your answer is yes, you're not alone, and you sure need more listening or speaking skills.

You may argue that you've spent so much time reading and writing blogs here on MyEC instead of watching English TV programs or movies. Then, my question is, can your English reading or writing impro

I came back to EC just a few weeks ago but after writing my previous blog, I was absent for a whole week. I didn't want to go away, but I got The Hunger Games Trilogy and was so indulged in reading the books that I couldn't visit the EC as frequently as I wanted to. If you're somebody fond of reading, you must know how people and things come alive in your imagination. I mean reading the books makes you think, fantasize and use your imagination in a way that nothing else could ever do. You become
