  • Hi Yoh,

As someone greets you with 呷飽沒 (Here the word 沒 should be added means a question sentence.), you may respond I've had my meal (record A) or I haven't had my meal yet (record B). Some of the sound are hard for me to spell in Pinyin so please take a listen at how I pronunce in separate comment. Sometimes how we stress the last word of a sentence will creative a different meaning.

It's true. Sauces is one of Chinese food's main souls. It generally pays particular attention to color, smell and taste in order to make dishes more vivid and generous. I remember one of my family loved so much was 梅乾扣肉(pork with dried mustard greens). My grandma cooked it with many seasonings like
soya sauce, white sugar, rice wine, green onion, star anise-a kind of Chinese herbal and dried mustard greens. I could eat rice with this dish only and no need other dishes to go with together.

The other preference we liked was sweet potato congee with many kinds of soy sauce pickles, such as melon, cucumber and soybean cheese(fermented tofu). All pickles were made by my grandma and no artificial preservatives contained.  What about special taste in 愛媛 or what's the hometown dish you are hard to forget?

    Cheers,

  • 呷飽沒? Yoh

Thanks for telling me about the taboo of dialects between 関東 and 関西. I'll mind it.^^

I'm surprised you know 呷飽. Where did you get it? It's common and useful greeting for 台語 no matter when you meet people anytime. It represents good morning(afternoon or evening), a kind of friendly and concerned word for friends, and it could also be used to break the ice. My ancestors came from Fujian(福建) several hundred years ago, so I were taught 台語 by my grandparents when I was little. There are quite a few of 台語 that borrows from Japanese, such as truck, apple, camera and screwdriver. So, it may not be difficult to be understood once you hear those words in 台語. Are your ancestors the native of Japanese and which dialect do you speak?

It seems that you could consist of a small zoo in your house if you had those creatures at the same time.^^ I had silkworm, goldfish and dog as I was at elementary school. One day, the door was opened, a cat suddenly jumped into the fish bowl, as a result my poor fish became the meal of that cat. T_T

How I know かんばん ねこ is because of たま, a tortoiseshell cat. Possibly you may know her already. She is now the stationmaster at Kishi Station in Kinokawa and has brought back

business for the Kishikawa train line. Her duty is to greet and pose for photos for the tourists. And, of course her salary is cat food. Tama is really a wonderful mascot for that station, isn't she?  That かんばん いぬ is a dutiful dog that looks like obeserving the surroundings carefully. If I were there, I'd merely dare to take photo of him/her rather than going inside to buy shoes since I may not be sure if the dog will bite me or not. @_@

    Have a good weekend.

  • Yoh 您好 ^^

Cantonese I see as a kind of Chinese dialect when I learned it. If one Mandarin speaking people who didn’t learn Cantonese before, when he/she hears it with slow pace, maybe he/she could be able to guess and figure out a little bit from speaking. Some of its pronunciations are even similar to one of our other dialects Hakka. It is quite interesting to know the similarity between the two or more languages. How about Japanese? Is there also any dialect or different accent between north Japan and south Japan, for example?

That dog in Florence is really kawaii.^_^ In Taiwan, it depends on the masters. Some dogs are on a chain, some are without the chain. I once saw Maltest or Poodle respectively was held by his/her master when they were taking a walk. I am not sure whether the dog is happy or not, but I am sure the master finds having the dog’s company happy. Have you ever raised a dog or other animals?

This cat sitting on the chair is a かんばん ねこ of a food store in Taipei. He/she looked at me with no scare and quite free on his/her position, and allowed us to touch him/her as well. No wodner the store was packed with people. I guess one of the reasons is this cat.

  • Thanks, yoh, for your great picture! Your photo has enraptured me!!

    2381835880?profile=originalTake care,

  • Hello, Yoh,

It was amazing!!! Thank you very much for your admirable advice! It's a real godsend! ^_^  It's a place that I'll visit very often!

From time to time, I peep into  Anime Group, keeping silence, as I have nothing to share with all of you. ^_^ Liza is all right, tails after me all days.

I hope you are doing well and have enough free time now!  I can't but ask about your relatives and friends in Japan- how are they? I wish that Japanese people didn't have to have an earthquake and tsunami. I wish all of them peace, safety and hope!

    Take care!

    Natasha.

Following wind to you during the riding!

  • Nihao Yoh,

Glad to know you want to learn our language, Chinese. Perhaps it is easy for you to learn since some of Japanese characters are originally from Chinese, isn't it? Nowadays more and more people in US like learning not only Chinese, they also learn Qigong(氣功), Tai Chi(太極) or calligraphy(書法). Would you also like to learn those if you have a chance? For other language, I learned some simple Cantonese from one of my friends who lives in H.K. I learned it for the trip too. After I came home, I rarely used it. Now, I only remember one, two, three.. unitl ten.^_^  As for Spanish, once I find a good cram school, I also want to learn it though its verb might be tricky than English.

So, be sure you have had some coins in hand or exchange with the shops before you enter this kind of  restroom, otherwise, have yourself not eat or drink too much as possible as you can. ^_^

Indeed, cathedral church no matter in Florence or in Koln are both imposing. Understating their brilliant

architecture and history by few words or photos are definitely not enough. Thus, let them tell directly the firsthand feeling would be exceptional. ^_^

Congratulations on the license you've got. Here the beer I brought from Czech to celebrate your passing of the test. Let's かんぱい. ^_^

  • Chao Yoh,

I'm surprised that you learned German before. How long had you learned it at college? So, you would have no problem when you speak with a native of Germany in German, don't you? Besides German and Italy, what else languages have you ever learned before?

Here you can see a machine that is set in front of a washroom in Autobahn's rest area. You have to put the coin in it then it will give you a ticket to enter the washroom. Each person costs €0.7 but the ticket showed €0.5 only will be deducted from the amount of things if you buy from the store. Most of the attractions you have to pay some tips, only a few of places are no need. You wouldn't believe how much fee I donated for that during the trip. €14 in total.  >_<" My aunt said running a washroom may be a good business there becuase no one can live without using the washroom.

Yes, it's also popular here especially Vespa scooter. Several years ago, we could see many people ride it on the roads. I wish I could be there and had a ice cream sitting on Spanish Steps. That would be great! ^_^

    Enjoy riding H-D!

  • Hi Yoh,

We also visited some of factories like making beverage at elementary school. The factories usually gave us a bottle of their product after we finished the visit. We seldom had a field trip but had school trip from elementary school to university. I still remember when the teacher announced the news of school trip, how excited we were, and we talked about what kind of comics, snacks or clothes we would bring or wear before the day of the trip. Where we will visit may not be very important, but having the chance to hit it off is a big deal for us. ^_^

In Europe, owing to our different appearance from them, the locals automatically spoke English with us. Only I once went to washroom in Holland, a woman spoke Dutch to me after I came out from that. I didn't know what she was saying. After for a while, I figured out that she reminded me of paying her the charge. In Europe, you have to pay the charge of going to the washroom no matter where you are including restaurants, department stores or even shops in gas stations. We don't need to pay any of charge in those public places in Taiwan. But, their washrooms are clean, indeed. How about in US and Japan?

Yes, we did try speaking little bit German when we were at some shops or restaurants, such as Danke (Thank you), bitte (You are welcome) and Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye). Some of sounds pronouncing from larynx or the position of tounge are quite special that we can't learn correctly in a short time. I found myself just like a parrot imitating sounds. ^_^

For Apostolic Palace, we can see it often on TV as long as Pope showed up each time. I noticed one thing that the floor of St. Peter's Square is made of flagstone, isn't it? I saw many like this kind of road in Prague too. Is it called flagging in English?

I seem too talkative today. Now I should have my keyboard and mouse take a rest. ^_^

    Have a good day.

    Grace
