  • Hello yoh,
I like La Mer by Debussy, who was an impressionist in music. Thanks to you, I'm now a little bit aware of Japanese woodcut-Ukiyoe. Ukiyoe is very beautiful and dainty.
Thanks for an interesting information and a bit of Beauty!
  • Thank you for your quick comment!
I don't know if it's good or bad that those Russian pictures are "more life oriented"(by the way, I agree with you). I'd like to say, when looking at them, I feel a kind of joy and beatitude.

Thank you again for very very beautiful pictures! There is an indubitable resemblance between them. In my childhood I was afraid of the warrior staying behind the artist's wife's back :). You've reminded me of it. He he!
    Wish you joyful mood!
  • I'd like to add the names :

    I.Grabar. Chrysanthemum. 1905.
    I. Grabar. March snow.1904.
    K. Korovin. At a tea table. 1888.

I wish you a good mood!
  • Hi yoh,
It is certainly Russian artists were influenced by French impressionists.
Among them are K.Korovin,V.Serov,I.Levitan,I.Grabar, and others.
I've read about one interesting fact that some Japanese artists had had an influence on French impressionists.
Here are the examples of Russian paintings

  • Hi yoh,

Yes, we say "She has been dead for three years" instead of "She has died for three years".

    We also say:
    1. It's three years since she died.
    2. It's been three years since she died.
    3. She died three years ago.
    4. She has died.

Notice: "die" is a noncontinuous verb.

    Hope it helps!
  • Hello yoh,
It's very nice to hear that you like Russian composers. I have the same feelings towards composers mentioned by you.
It's a pity, but I can't answer your questions concerning my avatar. Some time ago I found it among the pictures by French painters and it hadn't been signed. The reproduction is likely to have been removed from the sight. The picture looks like by the impressionist Claude Monet.
    Take care.
  • Hi yoh,
Thanks for your reply. I see you appreciate good music. I am fond of classical music as well. The list is rather long. Among my favourite composers are P. I. Tchaikovsky, S. Prokofiev,Chopin, and many others.
  • Hello,yoh,
I'd like to praise the melodies at your page. At the moment I'm listening to Peace Piece. It's very nice and unusual for me.
    Thanks for sharing.
