I would like to continue my blog by adding some notes about an American thriller called 'The Machinist'. The film was released in 2004 and caught my attention because I am fan of the leading actor. The notes I made after watching the film were originally for my own use, but I have decided to post them because I feel that films can play an important role in learning English and this may give you an idea as to what The Machinist is about. Perhaps you could also make a note of the vocabulary I have

The following is Elizabeth Alexander's stirring poem written for the Inauguration of President Barack Obama."Praise song for the day".Each day we go about our business, walking past each other, catching each other’seyes or not, about to speak or speaking. All about us is noise. All about us isnoise and bramble, thorn and din, eachone of our ancestors on our tongues.Someone is stitching up a hem, darninga hole in a uniform, patching a tire, repairing the things in need of repair.Someone is trying

HASSAN II MOSQUE

Yesterday I entered the Chatroom here in My English Club, and while discussing, two of the members asked me to tell them about Hassan II mosque here In Morocco. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to satisfy their eagerness. In this respect, here is an illustrated idea about this beautiful masterpiece. The idea of constructing the mosque is HASSAN II's, king of Morocco. He inspired it from a verse of the holy Qoran: " Wa kana archoho ala al mae." That is " the throne of ALLAH, God, was on w

I Am Nothing

rainbow-listentoreason-flickr.jpg

Before I came to Canada, I thought that I was born in the best place in the world with the best culture, history, tradition and custom. That was my first immature self-image. Right now, I feel I am nothing and belong to the whole world." I suffered during these thirty years, but I have revived the Iranians with the Persian language; I shall not die since I am alive again, as I have spread the seeds of this language." This poem is from Ferdowsi, one of the most influential poets in Iran with his

My EC is growing quickly. It was only a short time ago that we were a very small group. We introduced ourselves and began making friends easily. As this club grows, let's all remember to make new members feel welcome. In other words, take the time to say hello.

1) Leave a welcome message on a member's wall
2) Add the new member as your friend with a personal message

I am pleasantly surprised to find that the English writing skill of bloggers here is excellent, and what's more important they are talking sense. There are other English forums for learners and teachers but then you will be reading a lot of really poor English posts. As an English teacher, I enjoy my time browsing around here in its present state. What's more, the font size fits me as I belong to the age bracket when you have to swap glasses all the time.

I am aware of the English Club site but did not notice this new MEC feature until today.I always urge my students to go read the blogs maintained by native English speakers especially those being maintained by bloggers who mumble a lot everyday. That's the living language to me. Yet they keep on complaining or looking for a better book, teacher, method or training center rather than putting their acts together. Once their eyes catch these snake-like roman alphabets, they will walk away.Students

My favorite holiday in Russian culture is New Year's Eve that is celebrated on the 31 st of December.

There is always a festive dinner in every home. Families and friends get together to stay up long during the night to see the old year off and to see new year in. There is lots of music, songs, fireworks and joy on this night. Everybody is happy and full of hope for positive changes in the coming year.Children get gifts from the traditional Russian gift-giver named Grandfather Frost and from his
