Until recently, things were black and white for me. I was able to differentiate between right and wrong, true and false, good and bad. But within the last couple of years there has been a paradigm shift, unprecedented, in my life. And what used to exist as “stark distinctions” are “blurred lines” now.

The menace is one, but the dimensions are myriad. And they vary from the civil war in Iraq to NaMo's public endorsement, from the  contentious issue of Kashmir to socio-cultural status of women in

This is the third part of my blog series "The Wonderful World Of Backyard Critters". This blog is dedicated to a very polished Pole gentleman, Rysperski. "Rys, I know sometimes I breathed too much of those pit fumes, but it made me more appreciative of these critters. LOL"

Hello everybody.

Direct to the point. Many people say that if you have fun while you are learning, you learn the most. However, many people find the process of learning English difficult, frustrating, and in some cases boring. The point is why not: you go to a class room, revise some grammar rules, rehearse some pronunciation patterns, and fulfill some exercises on grammar and vocabulary. Moreover, people, in several cases, don't have time to go every day for 2 hour to a classroom after a day of

EXTRACT FROM A BOOK: Matilda

. Mr and Mrs Wormwood were two such parents. They had a son called Michael and a daughter called Matilda, and the parents looked upon Matilda in particular as nothing more than a scab. A scab is something you have to put up with until the time comes when you can pick it off and flick it away. Mr and Mrs Wormwood looked forward enormously to the time when they could pick their little daughter off and flick her away, preferably into the next country or even further than that. It's a funny thing ab

I can see the people who wear clothes printed with strange English. I think the people who wear clothes like that don't know the meaning of those words.

Many years ago, I asked my mother to buy a hat. The hat my mother bought had the word "Bitch" printed on it. It is a dirty word, isn`t it? If she had known the meaning of the word "Bitch" she never would have bought it.

23) “Miss”, “Mrs.”, and “Ms. – The focus here is on “Ms.”, which many ESL mistakenly students believe is an abbreviation for “Miss”, the title for an unmarried woman – it's not. Popularized by the feminist movement in the 1970s, “Ms.” is a title that does not indicate whether or not the woman is married – if men can have such a title (“Mr.”), why not women too? Today, all three titles –  “Miss” (unmarried woman), “Mrs.” (married woman) and “Ms.” (undisclosed) – are used in everyday English spee

My Experience with Reflexology

2346840947?profile=original

A few days ago I went to a reflexology therapist to get some massages. This therapist is quite well-known around our city. He practices reflexology not only for relaxation as others might do, but also for treatment for various kinds of diseases from mild to severe ones. Many have proved and acknowledged his skill.

He is a retired government officer so he is an educated person. It was somewhat relieving to have a discussion with him while groaning once in a while during the massage.

I asked him whe

Reflections on Pronunciation.

Hello Guys.

I know that I have been away from my posting blogs quite a lot. The reason why is that I have been studying, teaching Spanish and running a English conversation club at my work place.

Today, I just want drop down some lines and reflect on how to improve our pronunciation.

First of all, we have to be aware that this will take time and practice. At the beginning, many people are afraid to speak and make errors. At this stage my suggestion is that you have to speak, it doesn't matter if

Gardening

Did you ever make a vegetable garden?

I love to garden and I really, really, really love to eat the fresh vegetables. Gardens are not difficult if you have healthy soil.

Some plants like soil that is a little bit acidic and others like a neutral or a more alkaline soil.

Weeds also like gardens and seem to like every kind of soil. Weeds are what we call any plant that we don't want growing in the garden.

If you want to make a garden, you need to decide what you will grow. It is good to check your soi

Writing Prompt: Future Perfect

Writing Prompt ~ Future Perfect

By 4 PM tomorrow, I will have left for London. I won't be more in the South hemisphere of the Earth because the plane will probably have crossed the Equator. So, arriving there at 3 AM, I will count on the kindness of my friend Jack to pick me up at the airport entrance so late. He will have picked me up in his new and high-tech car: a Land Rover model 2014. Then, we'll have eaten something in downtown London, maybe a tasty pizza or hot-dog. After that, I will have
