Many of you that may know me in here (EC Chat Room) know that the most strenuous exercises that I do are chewing my food and blinking my eyes. I am not an outdoor person. I would rather read books or just sleeping than walking in the park under the hot burning sun. 2346553190?profile=original

So I was surprised even myself when a group of my friends invited me to join them climbing the Mount Kinabalu in Sabah and I said a BIG YES. It happened in 2007. I know.... I know ... you are going to say "But Noas, that was centuries

Is Spelling important?

This blog is in response to one on oxford dictionaries' website  Does spelling matter? blog.oxforddictionaries.com?   You can't help respecting anybody who can spell TUESDAY, even if he doesn't spell it right; but spelling isn't everything. There are days when spelling

If it ain't fixed don't break it! :)

Though there are flaws in the system, I think it is important for there to be a system.  Today English is the lingua franca of the world.  So there needs to be some standardization for all the

I .have a set of images that I collected  from various sites!  Each one of them  teaches us a different spelling rule. There are 30 images in my collection now. I’m going to share with you one  at  a  time!  The images are not that clear,  thus making it illegible!  I decided to rewrite the text for you! Here's the first one:

Writing - Basics

Each Paragraph should begin with a topic sentence.  It is a general statement that tells the reader what this paragraph is about and what the controlling idea is.  Everything in the paragraph should relate to that idea.  “If a sentence or idea in a paragraph does not relate to the main idea, the paragraph lacks unity.”  You want the idea to be general yet specific enough that you can talk about one subject or aspect.  If it is too general, your paragraph will be too long and cumb

Remember your childhood :)

I'd like to describe a game which I played with my friends when I was child. It’s called “MIDIA”. The main rules of this game are that you throw a small stone that is smooth and flat, on the floor; this is traced first by a rectangular shape definite numbers from 1 to 7. You continue by throwing the stone down into number two, then you jump on one foot over the numbers until 7. Then, when you return, you move the stone to number one without touching the middle line between the rectangles one

Brussels - Belgium

Here are some photos I took in Brussels - Belgium, the capital of my country but also of the European Union. The "Grand Place" (big square) is said to be the one of the most beautiful square of the world. I don't know if it is true, but whenever I go there, I am breathless in front of those amazing gothic style buildings. Since 1998, it is a UNESCO World heritage site. If you look closely to these photos, you will see that those wonderful buildings were made with stone lace.

pretender

If you see the teeth of the lion prominent, don't think the lion is smiling. It is a poem by a famous Arabic poet. I was showing my teeth on my last picture. I was trying to look brave and hard. Then suddenly, I asked myself, " hey man, are you really like a lion?"

I always try to hide and pretend. Once I met a lady in a bar. She requested to be given a glass of milk. while drinking her milk she started to tell me about personal things. Then I told her whether she was always like that with stran

Hi everyone!

I know that I have not been as active as I would like. However, today I want to drop some lines on a issue that is on my mind and I cannot take it off.

According to my experience not only as a Student of English, but also as a teacher of Spanish; I came up with the conclusion that accent was not important in the process of communication. Besides, I thought that the most important thing when you are learning a language is communicating your ideas fluently and accurately. Actually, si

The 53d of February or TODAY

2346550508?profile=originalHi, my friends! I want to tell you about the events in Kiev on March 22-23. First of all, I have to say that Kiev climate is quite moderate and mild. In the middle of March we usually take off our winter clothes. But this year we have an opportunity to celebrate New Year again now. Our journalists made a film called "Today" or "February 52" ( I hope you remember the film "The day after tomorrow'). Can you imagine that 40 mln tones of snow  fell down on my city during 24 hours?  And nothing was d

Read and Think

"Readers are plentiful; thinkers are rare." Harriet Martineau

“a man’s world be no smaller than the mind of the man who scans it”  Louis L'Amour

This blog owes it genesis to Mickey who asked the question "How are society and school different".  I will discuss that more with her but a related issue is how we can learn by reading.  This is true whether in school or out of school.  One of our greatest opportunities to learn is by reading.  But to read is not enough.  Too often people read to get thou
