Have you ever tried to write a mystery? It's not as easy as you think! I recently wrote a mystery for English learners called "The Case of the Missing Ring".

Here are some things I learned about mystery writing:

1. Don't give away "who did it" until the end.
2. Give hints along the way. (The plot must thicken.)
3. Make each character look slightly guilty. (Each one needs a motive.)
4. Give the detective a unique personality.
5. Build interesting relationships between the characters.

It was fun writing

DAISY : Listen, don't stare like this at me. I told you already that I didn't steal Gingey's candy! And I'm telling you again that I'm not the thief. Why don't you believe me? Am I such a bad person that you still think I'm the culprit regardless of all those explanations I gave you? O my God, I can't believe this! I just can't believe this...... You don't know, I and Gingey are such great friends! Once I met a horrible accident and Gingey saved my life. How on earth I can steal something owned

True Confessions of an Addict

My name is Ohnie and I’m an addict.

It’s really difficult to hear my self say it. And even after finally being able to admit it, still, sharing it is a big challenge. But I feel that for my sake and for those who care for me, I need to come out clean. Hopefully, I can start from here.

At first, I wasn’t interested in trying it. But I did it, anyways. Why? I wasn’t exactly sure myself. Could it be boredom? Curiosity? Maybe I wanted to experiment? Or perhaps, I needed to prove something?

I don’t quit

"Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day." -Sally Kock-

Sometimes I wonder if it is necessary for others to know what and how we helped others. Because sometimes I can feel that I have to justify all my actions even if it's just a little act of kindness. Honestly, I always feel shy to say the kindness I have done for others and the reason for this is something I myself cannot understand why. I'm really very sorry if I don't know why I'm shy, maybe bec

How to Be a Good Online Friend

I just realized that I have 999 friends on MyEC. Though many of these members are not active participants in the club, there are hundreds of members who consider MyEC a home away from home. If you've heard of Seth Godin, you'll know that he calls a club like ours "a tribe". We are a group of disconnected people with a like interest that brought us together. Though it may seem difficult to keep in touch with so many friends it is possible to touch the lives of many through blogs, photos, videos,

Goodbye my friends

For me signing in my ec was seeking knowledge at first. I am still in need for that and I won't stop learning anyway. I am always eager to learn more and more ,and everyday for me is a challenge I take in my learning process. But what I couldn't expect is that my ec wasn't a dead website without life. Inside it, I found a heart beating. Thanks to honest persons working hard in order to make it the best among the best.I couldn't expect I might visit the world simply by clicking sign in to my ec.

Thank you, English Club !

I took this photo for English Club, members and myself.

Back to two months ago, I started buckling down and being more active in English Club. I kept reading, learning articles and grammar lessons, chatting with friends in the chat room, to comment friends’ blogs with the words or phrases I’ve learned. Besides, I took part in some groups such as collection of phrases, MyEC process, and tried to post some blogs though my writing not good enough. From tracking my progress during the past two months

First Love at First Sight

Last Friday afternoon (November 5th) was very special to me. I got to pick Sam up from school and got to hang out with him at the mall afterwards. Since I'm a working mom, the privilege of taking Sam to school and picking him up is rare while my in-laws normally do this job for me.

So when I picked Sam up, I asked him where he would like to go. I gave him several options. After thinking for a while, he said, "Mommy, I wanna go to the mall!" So then we went to the mall and there we ate and ran a

Learning English has been one of the most difficult tasks I have ever done in my life. What makes it so challenging is you have to be persistent, self-motivated and self-disciplined. In my opinion, persistence is the most important and vital factor for learning English because only by practicing, perfection can be acquired. And practicing is nothing than doing one task regularly until got it right. In addition to that, during my English studies, I either had some personal experiences or learned
