Writing Challenge: Catchy Blog Titles

A) Three Good MyEC Blog Titles

1) My Perth Diary : Day Four 1st Jan 2014 by noaslpls

For me, it's a good blog title because it goes straight to the point, then, it's clear, descriptive and cathchy for who's a travel enthusiast. Capitalization highlights all the important words. Noaslpls were able to do direct titles for a series of posts telling us about the Australian city of Perth.  Congratulations noaslpls for such a great travel along the posts.

Rambling Of An Old Lady

2346775663?profile=originalDue to my hectic work schedule, I found myself having less time to write. My mind can't come up with anything. The dreaded thing is happening to me. I'm hitting the bricks wall. No matter how much I want to write about something, anything, nothing is the answer. Everything remains blank.

I guess my brain is taking a silent vow and refusing to come up with anything. It's like it is reaffirming what WMW always said about me. That I was always hibernating. I can't let it slides. I need to prove that

Astronauts Under the Ocean

Seriously? Not exactly! I'm referring to a recent summer adventure that I participated along with my family in Boracay Island, in my country, the Philippines. This is called Helmet Diving.

What is helmet diving?

This is becoming one of the popular out-door activities among foreign and local tourists in the island. This activity allows you to climb down a ladder to reach the seabed while wearing a helmet made of glass plates. The helmet itself has an air compressor connected by a long hose up to

Photo Challenge: ThingLink

I tried a new photo site today called "ThingLink". It's really fun! I used this image to create my first ThingLink. When you touch it on the site, the photo becomes interactive. Touch this photo. Then try making your own: www.thinglink.com

Unfortunately, the embedded photo option doesn't allow the links to show up on MyEC. To Touch (interact with) the photo, you'll have to visit the site.

PS - World Book Day is on 6 March. What are you reading? Leave a comment on my ThinkLink, or below in the c

There are many good blogs that had been written by members of MyEC. Some of them attracted my attention because of their titles, which for me spoke volume.

These are the few selective blogs that really caught my attention.

1. Where Have They Gone? We Still Love Them! by Mr. Bob

I came across this blog when I was feeling a bit sad. One of my friends in MyEC decided to 'temporarily left' EC after getting so much harassment in the main chat room. Even though this blog was published in 2012, I though

What you won't find, unfortunately, is a bunch of well-written blog titles. In a recent comment on my No Blog Left Behind post, one of our long-term bloggers mentioned that she typically reads blogs that have good titles. This got me thinking about what makes a good blog title.

Blog Title Checklist

A good blog title should:

  • be short and to the point (You don't need to write complete sentences in a title.)
  • have proper capitalization

To EC Bloggers

There is no doubt EC is a charming place. Our hard-working moderators have made EC a convenient and effective learning and teaching site and they are dedicated to make it better. Folks, just make the best use of EC, and I'm sure they are happy to know you are cherishing their efforts.

I've been here for about 1 year. EC has helped me improve my English a lot especially in writing. I am enjoying writing blogs here because of the support from my teachers and friends on EC. I picked up a phrase befo

A few years ago, I traveled to England from Canada to do a special presentation about MyEC. I talked to hundreds of teachers about how I blog with English learners on EnglishClub. It was a fantastic experience, and many teachers vowed to get their students blogging when they returned to their own countries.

One thing that teachers were really excited about was a concept that we introduced long ago on MyEC:

No Blog Left Behind

I explained that we (admin, mods, bloggers) do our very best to make sur

Hi, this blog post seems to be my first writing in here..

Owh, by the way, have you ever thought that talking to other people about something you want them to do is a difficult thing? Instead of doing what you want, other people just give you the opposite. So disappointed, right? Well, perhaps an information below gives you a point of view how to convince someone to do what you want.

There are 2 (two) techniques to convince someone to do what you want. First, is what called The Foot-in-the-door te

Are you enjoying the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics? I hope so. Are you satisfied with the performance of the athletes of your country? Do you think it's an opportunity for us to pick up some sports English words while enjoying the games? What's your favourite winter sport?

One more question: Do you think the countries should be ranked by all of their medals or only by the gold ones on the Olympic medal count/table?

Check out the Yahoo medal count and the BBC medal table, you'll find the difference.

On the 7th of February the XXII Winter Olympic Games have started in Russia! Without any doubt  this international event means a lot for all Russian people. I think it’s a great opportunity to show Russian culture, Russian character and Russian hospitality to the whole world!  Besides it’s a great chance for all Russian people to unite and to be proud of their unique country.

As a teacher I could see some lack of patriotism a few years ago among young people because they were brought up in a new

New Year New Gain

My new year holiday has run out. Today I am back to my work. The whole morning I still thought I was in the holiday!

I started my work from reading. It's a book I bought for myself as the new year gift. I'd love to share with you some funny idioms I picked up from the book this morning. Here we go!

Top Banana

The term top banana refers to the leader of a group or organization. It's smiliar to head honcho, big cheese, big enchilada.

Example: Is Mickey the top banana of Disneyland?

Day Four : 1st Jan 2014

Happy new year, everyone. After a late night celebrating the new year in Mandurah, we decided to take it easy today. Everyone woke up late. We had not decide where to go, what to do. We will just go with the flow.

We agreed to meet up at the hotel lobby at about 9.30 am. After contemplating a few places and browsing through the map, we decided to go to the N
