Love Your Parents

This blog is dedicated to my friend & my sister whose parents had passed away a few years ago.

" It has been so long, a decade and a half. I'd say your memories are fresh in my mind, But they are not, they've started to fade as time goes by. I have forgotten the feel of the word "mom" on my tongue and my lips. I cannot say it anymore. It kills me to say this word!
I cannot recall your face, or the way you used to talk, whenever I think about you I have to recreate the images and the sound of your

The funny part is, the closer it is getting to the rainy season, the hotter it is becoming.

One Art By Elizabeth Bishop

The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to

GIFTS FOR MOTHER

Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and lawyers and prospered. Some years later, they chatted after having dinner together. They discussed the gifts that they were able to give to their elderly mother, who lived far away in another city.
The first said, “I had a big house built for Mama. The second said, “I had a hundred thousand dollar theater built in the house. The third said, “I had my Mercedes dealer deliver her an SL600 with a chauffeur. The fourth said,

This question was bugging my thoughts these past few days. I'm asking myself how will you know when you've had enough? Enough of the relationship that isnt working, enough of the dramas in life, enough of the things that doesn't make you happy anymore. Is it when the other person has finally gone too far ? Should we wait until they do something major before you decide to leave? Leave after you realize the extent of emotional abuse? Do we need to set boundaries in a relationship and if our partne

I was warned that somebody posed as me (Expector) in the chat room a few days ago. That's so annoying and intolerable. I wonder why they did that - they may have found it's fun to pretend to be someone, or they did it on purpose - just to cause trouble.  I've noticed that so many members complained about the situation in the chat room. Some members even left MyEC since they find some trolls' (or bad apples' or bad guys' or whatever you call them) misbehavior in the chat room is so unbearable. So

Can you surprise me? Idioms

I guess I am going to let the cat out of the bag, for some of you night owls who spend most of your English Club time chatting and reading your friend's blogs.  But, English Club has much, much more than My English Club (our social media side).

If you have paid attention in the past, you may have noticed some of the helpful resources.

Today I am reminding you about our sections on idioms.

I am just scratching the surface of the offerings that are available. The idioms at this link are about ani

Using Contractions Properly

Many students are confused on how to properly use contractions in speech.  This is one of the most common errors that I see in my students, so I will explain how this should be done and give some examples of pronunciation.

But first, let us remember that a contraction is a short form of a phrase in English and is most commonly used in informal speech and writing.  The phrase is shortened (contracted) by removing one or more letters, inserting an apostrophe in their place and making the phrase in
