Last Sunday, my relatives and I had a gathering to commemorate the first death anniversary of my Aunt. In my country, this kind of event is very important as a way of giving respect to a family member who passed away. The food we had are the following:From top leftLechon or whole roasted pig (this one was already chopped)Dinuguan or pork blood stewLumpia or Shanghai RollsRiceAt the middleRiceSauce for LechonRice cakes (circle-shaped)A bowl of Macaroni SaladFrom bottom leftMenudo (not the famous 80's boyband). This is also pork with tomato sauce and potatoes.Sweet and Sour Fish FilletsPansit or Fried Noodles (which is a very common food in any occasions)Beef MechadoI have a large clan that's why meals were served this way. : )

  • Hi Rosenmaiden!

I'm very pleased to see your warm comment on this photo! Lunch for the giants seems interesting. There were a bunch of people on this occasion, and the buffets were enough to be shared.

      Thank you for the comment!

    Regards,

  • Hello, Robby!

Nice photo! Excellent lunch! :-) Such large portions are very attractive! It is in the style of Gargantua!:-)  Lunch for giants! :-)

  • Hi Grace!

You're welcome! I enjoyed this challenge and learned different variety of meals   from our MyEC friends! Our gathering was held at my Uncle's house, and I had a nice time spending it with cousins. About the rice cakes, they were mostly made of ground rice with coconut milk. They didn't have any meat inside. It looks like you like veggies, too!

Thank you for commenting on this photo!

    See you around,

  • WOW !!!  I couldn't believe my eyes that you had such a big meal with your family. It seems you had a buffet at home, doesn't it? I'm curious about the Rice cakes (circle-shaped). Is there any vegetable or meat inside?

I'm so glad you joined our photo challenge. Thank you, Robbie. :)

  • Hi Scar!

I liked it, too! It is a Skipjack Tuna which can be cooked in many different ways. I sometimes cook it using coconut milk. Oh my goodness, it's really delicious! Lol! It seems you like fish, my dear sis?

Thank you for commenting on this photo!

    Happy eating!

  • Robbie, thanks for telling us about such an important event in your life. And one more thanks for sharing your national foods. You presented us a lot of different dishes. All of them seem so unusual and tempting. Looking at all national dishes of different countries is so exciting! I have a feeling that I'm travelling around the world and my friends invite me to taste all these amazing foods.....It's really so great!

  • They look very delicious!

The second at the bottom from the left look like fried fish and tomato sauce... :P This dish I very like. :) Thanks for sharing.
