Why Romentic? I refer back my earlier comment regarding the curious Britisher, and the hawkers calling customers to sell their stuff: I remember two of them.

One hawker was selling the small pieces of sugarcane, he was compairing them as beautiful and fresh as the ROSES YOUTH OF A GIRL . (ganderi GULAB hai jaisay SHABAB hai - GULAB and SHABAB - in tythm).

Another one was selling cacumber (the thin ones). He was comparing them with the finger of LAILA or the RIBS of Majanoon (he was considering that Majanoon has become very thin and his ribs become visible, and they are very beautiful).

Laila ki UNGLIAN hain Majnoon ke PASLIYAN hain kiya khoob KAKRIAN hain

UNLIAN (fingers) PASLIYAN (ribs) Kakrian (cacumber) are in rythm.

So you see there is romance even in the business of an illetrate hawker.

There is a very effective type of poetry in Urdu named GHAZAL. This really menas talking with/about BELOVED, or talk of/about beauty. But the poets have also put other thoughts besides this in this sort of poetry.

There are other forms, too. Why romantic? Is there any worth mentioning in life besides romance. But it is not confined to love or beloved. There are other deep romance. You fall in love with NATURE, this is also romance, you feel the pain of others miseries, too this is also a romance like we feel when the heart is borken. My bottom line is that Romance Is not limited to male-female love. It is all there spread in the universe, just need the SEEKER'S EYES.

Once a curious Britisher visited Sub Continent Indo-Pak to know why the people of this region were so poetic. When he came out of the railway station he heard the voices of the hawkers(mostly illetrates) who were calling the customers IN RHYMS. (All in Urdu, translation will distroy the beauty). The guy return back at the very moment from the next train saying, when the illiterates of this nation talk is rhyms what will be level of the literates ones!
