  About the place, it's just because of your avatar. I just guessed because, two years ago a friend showed me a picture with that type of lantern hanging on the windows of each house. Maybe I made a mistake... It's just a guess.

  I was in a hurry when I wrote Guangzhou. I spelled it with an "s". I don't really look at my keyboard when I touched the keys so sometimes my fingers just go anywhere when I'm in a hurry....I'm really sorry about that, teacher... :-)

  Since in this case the origin and creator are the same, it's really up to you, but by would be normal. There used to be a radio programme in England called Letter from America. Alistair Cooke wrote and presented the letter. So you could say it was Letter from America by Alistair Cooke.
