Read and Think

"Readers are plentiful; thinkers are rare." Harriet Martineau

“a man’s world be no smaller than the mind of the man who scans it”  Louis L'Amour

This blog owes it genesis to Mickey who asked the question "How are society and school different".  I will discuss that more with her but a related issue is how we can learn by reading.  This is true whether in school or out of school.  One of our greatest opportunities to learn is by reading.  But to read is not enough.  Too often people read to get thou

live and death

Many times, I stay alone and think about the true meaning of life. I was born, grow up, study, got married, make friend, etc. Every event or period I have passed by has its own meaning and given me a lot of emotions of happiness, sorrow and bitter as well..

Acknowledged that life is beautiful, however, finally we all will die, or in another word, the final destination for all is "death", why do we need to live...?

Dear Captain,

Miss you so much. But I know your goal and your life belong to that vast blue sea, there is your home, and where your heart belongs to as well. I just hope you enjoy everyday with the sea, and come back when you feel tired to have a short rest.

Last night I dreamt a bitter dream. In the dream, my soul attached to one imperial concubine, who was out of flavor of the emperor before I came. I wonder where her soul had gone, why my soul attached to her body and where my body had gone. So

WOW. Race Day. I hope today would not end as late as yesterday. The morning was a bit quiet since the Formula One Race would be in the afternoon. However, there were three Support Races before that. The spectators just trickled in, and not a lot of them in the morning. I ended up spending my mornin

Online and text abbreviations have their place in our modern era, and in the right situation (a chat room or text message) they are relatively acceptable. However (I am going to be quite unpopular for saying this) I don't think it is wise for English learners to use many of these 'lazy words'.Acronyms like LOL (laugh out loud) and BRB (be right back) are okay, as long as everyone is aware that they have no place outside a chat room or a text message, and they certainly don't belong in formal writ

The Most Romantic Thing

Dear Captain,

Life is still continuing, sometimes happy, sometimes upset, sometimes interesting, sometimes boring, sometimes active, and sometimes dull. Anyway, that’s true life. I accept all the states.

After a long while, I received Ling’s letter. In the letter, she shared me her recent life and invited me to visit her. The sanatorium she is staying stands by the sea. She said it very beautiful. What’s more, she made friends with an amiable and sophisticated elder lady. I

Have you ever thanked your friends?

For their smiles?

 their hellos?

their hugs?

their taps at your back?

their sharing things?

their sweet kisses?

their way of calling your name?

their talking nonstop?

their pure love?

imagine your friends  never doing that anymore,

could you bear it?

These are the ones who make life look so easy, cheerful and beautiful.

So,I thank all of you for being my friends.2346550884?profile=original

My Formula One Diary - Day Three

Again, this is the continuation of My Formula One Diary 2013.

Day One : 21.03.2013 (Read here)

Day Two : 22.03.2013 (Read here)

Day Three : 23.03.2013

I was expecting things to change in Day Three. Normally drivers would push their cars to the limit to get the best grid's positions in the Qualifying Rounds.

In addition, Saturday was also the start of Celebrity Spotting. Today was no exception. I saw Michelle Yeoh (James Bond's heroine and a Malaysian) with her partner - the famous Jean Todt.
