The 2012 London Olympic Games opened with a spectacular opening ceremony. For most of the MyEC members, however, the Games could be more of a chance to learn some English than just a sport meeting.

The Olympics are just taking place in an English-speaking country this time. So, English is everywhere. Chances are you will pick up some idiomatic expressions if you watch the Games on TV or in person in London. When the Queen opened the Games during the ceremony, MyEC members who were watching may ha

Penguin cam

Dear Readers,

I did not know the penguin's life before, because of my area. No penguins there. I just got information about it from magazine or news paper. When I visited Australia in 2004, I went to a place as a tourist spot in Sydney. The place is on the beach and I saw the penguin activity there. The activity is called " Penguin Parade". Readers, can you imagine what penguin parade  is like.

In June, we had Competition# 1 and thanks a lot for all the participants who took part in the competition. I promised to announce the winner at the end of June. I did not announce it since some friends wanted to write their answers. I will announce the winner soon.

Now, it's time for competition # 2, whoever gives the best answer is the winner and the prize is he/she can ask the next question for competition #3.

Here is the question:

Which one is important to you, "being right or being kind"? Yo

Hello, everybody!

It’s not a secret that EC is one of the best places not only to communicate but to improve your English. To do it we should develop different skills, such as  listening, reading, speaking and writing. It’s great that we have different interesting activities here to develop our written skills.  Our dear teacher Tara has a wonderful ability to find and give us various exciting tasks. We are very grateful to her for it.

But I noticed that only few members here try to improve their s

I'm  not sure whether you are aware of the ongoing  English Pronunciation Class  right here at our MyECCurrently,  Lesson 3 is in session.  However,  it's not late at allYou could still join the rest of our club members  and  learn about the Sounds of English. I see this nice poem in the Galina’s blog "If" by Rudyard Kipling, then it inspires me , because I feel strongly every single line . I think the poem is written for mankind in general , not only for the poet’s son .
Some exemplary poems like this one , should be read not for its nice rhyme or rhythm , but we would rather read them worthily for its right attitude and significant content.
I search for the poet’s life. I have known that he was an English poet, received the 1907 Nobel Prize for Lit

I recently attended a conference in China. Several medical researchers or experts from English-speaking countries, such as the US, were invited to the conference, too. Most of the audience, however, were Chinese. So, you bet there were a few interpreters who helped translate what the English-speaking lecturers were giving into Chinese. Don't get me wrong - I was not one of the interpreters, but I did ask a few questions in English when it was time for the audience to ask.

I asked in English "Dr R

First of all, I have to apologize for the long time I don't come here. I have been studying and working a lot these days and there are so many things to do that I stayed too much time without stopping by. Anyway, I miss you all!

Well, yesterday was the Friend's Day here in Brazil. Is there a separated date for friends where you live?2346439251?profile=original

2346437258?profile=originalWe've done a few serious writing challenges over the last few months, and I'm very impressed by how much you have learned about punctuation, capitalization, irregular verbs and countable/uncountable nouns. This month, let's have a little fun!

Your Task

1. Check out this Live Penguin Cam from the Vancouver Aquarium.

2. Spy on the seven African penguins for a while. What do you think they are thinking? If they aren't around, it could be night time. Visit again later. Feeding time is really fun!

3.
