2346402474?profile=originalThis weekend I am going to be talking to teachers about the "Learning English Video Project". This is a set of 7 short films about learning English. Each film takes place in a different country. I am going to show teachers an example from the film "Thoughts from Brazil".

I think MyEC members will like "Thoughts from Brazil".  It features some teens who use sites such as Facebook or MySpace to practice English.

Will you take part in an online video lesson with me?

Feel free to do all 5 activities

writing

The first thing I do when I log in to MyEC is check out the latest blog posts. What are the learners writing? What are the teachers sharing? Some days I find really interesting thoughts. Some days I find very funny stories. I love learning about holidays and cultural events. Occasionally I find material that is copied from the web. If this happens I remind learners of the rules.

Often I find a post by someone who doesn't know what to write. Today was one of those days. As a writer, this is hard

The star is .....falling.

When I was a child, I always look up in the sky and wonder How are the stars? Is it nice or ugly? Hot or cool? Dry or wet?.....and maybe all my life then I can not answer my questions. But in return, today, I become the star on EC for my effort.

So, my friends, Please listen to the star’s story from  the beginning....

As I said I was born in the home town and we had a big courtyard (it is for the harvest but the house is small). Every night, my parent laid sedge and all my family

TESOL Wordle Reflection

The last time I went to a teaching conference I wrote a blog post called IATEFL Wordle Reflection. I created a Wordle with a bunch of words that came to mind from my trip. Then I invited MyEC members to guess why I had included each word. It was a fun post for three reasons:

1) It became a memory page for me to visit regularly.

2) It provided useful practice for English learners.

3) It inspired other teachers to try a new activity in class.

I've just returned from another teaching conference, and

Story about my painting - Dawn in Bastakiya

I was always wanted to paint something about this place, something which make me most remember about this place. Then this memory popped out from my mind.

February 2012, one night in Dubai at the end of winter. I was walking alone at a place called Bastakiya. All alone at the corner of the promenade. Obviously I have nowhere to go. I have nothing else to do. Just sitting watching dhows goes by. As the night getting colder, velocity started to perished. A

It’s an incident of my childhood at my age of 10.

My mother lashes out me because my sister lied saying I dropped her ugly stupid doll in water. I was furious and decide to immediately leave the house. This wrathful idea always lies somewhere in my mind. I am provoked into a suicide attempt; to leave this world which is full of lies all around. Nobody cares and loves me in this world and I was just beaten like a donkey. I lay aside all my belongings which have lain in my pockets and leave a suici

How To "Pop Out" of Chat

2346386360?profile=originalAs many of you know, we have a NEW Dictionary App on MyEC. We've experimented a bit over the past few weeks to find a good place for it. The best place seems to be where it is right now, on the bottom left.

When we first added this Dictionary it got in the way of the main chat room. Thank you for your feedback. When we removed the Dictionary, many of you were very unhappy! We're glad you liked it. We looked for a better solution.

The new placement does not get in the way of the main chat room, or

Music has no language. For me without Music, commercial breaks in television is boring to watch, baby could not sleep without the lullaby of their mother, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston  could have died an ordinary man/woman, no one will sing in the shower. Wedding, birthday, honeymoon or any occasion are totally boring (no happy happy time). My life is incomplete without Music. To sum it up the world is so silent and no meaning at all.

Share your thoughts and shout it out @ Music Hub Group

We all have certain words that send us to the dictionary over and over. Sometimes it's a spelling problem. For example, I have trouble spelling the word "definitely". Other times it's an irregular verb that causes the problem. No matter how many times you read the rules, you still have trouble remembering. Are there certain words that you avoid because you don't want to use them wrong? For me, it's "lay" and "lie". Let's get these words straight once and for all!

I Have Fun with MyEC......

I have joined here for 7 months. I really enjoy our club. Sometimes, when I read/answer some funny comments then I laugh by myself. My husband was surprised (oh, because I'm online in my free time of work day and my desk and his desk is opposite) , he asked me : “Are you crazy, Why do you laugh by yourself?”. Lol…I can not explain him, here I will show you some funny situations that I have.

  1. Become a baby.

My English Club As I See It.

I have been a member of Mr. Josef's site for a little over 3 years and have one main aim as to why I joined English Club, it's mainly to improve and practice my English. I have enrolled in English schools too and have fused the actual knowledge I learned in school and Mr. Josef's site. I then applied what I learned here and in my daily life.

Aside from improving my English, I gained confidence in using the language. The overall effect on me is incredible. I got favourable remark in schools wh

Oscar and Me, This Year!

I burst into tears when I saw the Academy Film Festival gave the best foreign language award to an Iranian movie called “A separation.”

I do not know why I cried so much. Maybe because I felt we are really forgotten. No one sees us even in the weather forecast of the International news. The meteorologist usually skips over Iran. Not so many people know us. To my surprise, when I took my Canadian citizenship oath, the citizenship officer asked me where Iran is. “Is it Iraq?”

Moreover, when I show

I recently came across a wonderful blog post by English language teacher Chiew Pang. Chiew is a famous blogger in the international English language teaching community. He interviews teachers and shares lots of great resources. His recent post "Know your photos; know your camera" on the ELTPics blog was full of great tips and ideas for teachers. I asked him to rewrite it for English learners so that I could share it with all of you. I was so happy that he agreed! If there's one thing I've learne
