Czechs and Food

In this blog I decided to sum up main points related to the Czech dining and cuisine. Some of my points you might find interesting, others disgusting or maybe you will get to know things you have never heard of before. So no more explanations, let's start!

1. We eat early

I can say that in comparison to other countries we eat very early, no matter if it is breakfast or dinner. We also wake up earlier and our working time starts from 6am or 8am. It means that breakfast we take usually at 6 - 7pm, t

Writing Challenge : Weather Chat

I told EC main chat room that if I ever want to write about 'weather chat', I want to write a dialogue with an Eskimo. Well, it's not a conversation with an Eskimo, but rather inspired by a certain man with the name of Prince Harry and his adventures in the "Walking With The Wounded Expedition" to the South Pole.

Me : Hello H1N1! How are you? It's been ages since we talk. How's the weather in Stockholm?

H1N1 : Hi Noa. Yeah. It's been a while. I am a bit busy with my training. What can I say about

Hello, my EC friends.

I am giving you back my 5 not-so-wise kittens.  Some of you may still remember what they did last time.  Oh yes, they just read your personality according to your choices.

Last time, you only had to choose 2 kittens in order to get your personality read.  This time, I am going to ask something (a little bargain) from you first.  I want 3 passes from you in exchange for reading your personality.

HOW TO GET THE 3 PASSES

1.  From the picture (given below), select and write the two

Crushed Slang

Today English Club tells us that crush is a slang word.

I hope you all know what the real meaning of crush is. It means to break or smash something in to very small pieces. Sometimes local governments (city, county, state) or building companies will crush rock into small pieces to use for material in building new roads. And if you have some crushed ice, you can make a snow cone!!! (What is a snow cone?)

Sometimes crush can be used in a negative sense, like defeat. Remember when Manchester United

Expector: Hi Swift. How's the weather in Sanya?

Swift: Hi Expector. It's sunny and warm as always here. It must be a freezing cold day in Changchun?

Expector: Yeah, it's minus twenty-five according to the forecast. It's sunny but so chilly. We just experienced a terrible blizzard.

Swift: Blizzard? I hope it didn't cause any damage to you. You must be used to it - every winter there are so many blizzards in the northeast.

Expector: We don't really care so much about it, but I don't think it's a good

Slang Word of the Day

I am new here and have been looking at all of the interesting things this site has to offer. I have found several things that will help me teach English.

So today I discovered the Word of the Day and in that area, there was the Slang Word of the Day. The Slang word for today is Dope. What was the correct answer for what a dope is? An idiot or stupid person.

But I can think of 2 more meanings for the word dope. Can anyone guess them?

Writing Challenge: Weather Chat

2346995935?profile=originalHow's the weather today? This is the first line of Jonathan Taylor's new Weather Song.

When it comes to small talk, the weather is a popular subject for Canadians. For example, I talk about the weather with our crossing guard every morning. We only have a few seconds to chat before the traffic light changes. This gives us just enough time to comment on the weather.

Talking about the weather is a good way to break the ice when you meet someone new or when you're at the beginning of a conversation.

My Bangkok Excursion - Final

This is the final instalment of my blogs of the same title.

1. My Bangkok Excursion - Day 1

2. My Bangkok Excursion - Day 2

3. My Bangkok Excursion - Day 3

The next day, we went to the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market. The market is only opened on weekends. It's a popular area for tourists and locals alike. It's a bit far from the Bangkok City Centre. We had to take the MRT and then a subway to reach there. The market is really big. If you don't really take note of your surrounding, you will find you

Oversmart People Don't Rock!!!

Yesterday I realized something weird. Yeah guys, I feel now like I am  part of some minority or somebody whose opinions are not typical for country I live in. I was surfing on the Internet, reading the articles. I guess we all do this but this time I decided to pay attention to the comments bellow the text, which were written by the random people. Guess what???!!! I got almost heart attack.

One thing is more than clear. Some people's self-confidence grew a lot thanks to the social media and anony

Did you hear that an angry Chinese passenger opened the emergency exit of a plane? That can be so unbelievable but really happened.

The plane was on the way to the runway, but the runway was so busy that the plane had to wait until it was allowed to use the runway - all the passengers had already been stuck on their seat without air conditioning for quite a while. Suddenly, a passenger unfastened his seat belt and went to open the emergency exit (door).  The passenger was arrested for his abrupt

I love eating, but will drag my feet, and hand, and every organs in my body to do any cooking. Sometimes, I do wonder how do I survived having eaten some of my so called 'home cooked' dishes. Anyway, I tried my hardest to search, well more like rummage, through my very limited knowledge of dishes and came up with this recipe.

It's a very simple recipe, and unfortunately not limited to holiday season. I chose this recipe because it's simple, and the ingredients, I hope easily available to everyone

When It Rains, It Pours

On 14 January 2015, once again I had to travel to Sandakan to attend a meeting. Since there was only one direct flight to Sandakan, as usual, it was going to be a 2-day trip. I reached Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with an ample time to spare since I had checked-in through my mobile.

As you may have known, it's a monsoon season in Malaysia, so it's always raining, though lately it was not that bad. The flight was 2 and 1/2 hour, and there was no in-flight entertainment. So I spent my

I live on my own and I am happy like this. Only my family - I mean my husband and my kids. Some of you might opose that families should stay together but from my point of view it can sometimes create many generational conflicts. Here in my country living with elder generation isn't so common, maybe more in the villages but in the city we definately prefer own privacy.

Such way of living has of course many advantages. Nobody tells me what to do, which is the most important thing for me. I am indep

I always try to get known local food, I mean Bangladeshi cuisine when I step out from my country. Though, sometimes, I like to taste other cuisines also.

In true sense, I am a bit scared person. I scare of many things. May be it is one of the reasons of my local food loving habit. Secondly, I always like to think in this way that if I try new items of food, it may kill my time. You know during traveling how important time is! Another point is, My stomach is used to our own cuisine. So, it may get
