GONESIA - 10 people has been reported died two days ago by a 50cm-wave on Croco Beach. Twenty people had been taken to the hospital before they finally died in the hospital room. The victims have not been identified yet, but six of them were ascertained as foreigners.
"The wave is actually not a dangerous one. It is presumed that those people had never seen such a wave in their whole life," the police explained.

This is a true story that happened with my mom one year ago.
One day, it was October or November, at 8-9 pm o`clock I was coming back from the city to home in the village. And as always the way to home was going through the forest. It was dark there. And in each hand I carried a bag, so I could not use a flashlight. It was very quiet inside forest, because of absence of wind.
And suddenly, right in the middle of my way to home, I heard the steps of 2-3 creatures behind me... I started to walk fast
Hi bloggers and everyone who likes writing. :)
I’m sure all of you know what passive voice is. Passive voice can change the focus of interest by placing the object at the beginning of the sentence. Subjects are often omitted in the sentence as they are usually unimportant, unknown, or obvious.
Passive voice is commonly used in news report. Hence, for practicing the passive, I challenge you to write a news report. :)
Here is your task:
1. Choose a topic of your interest, then make a title of your ne
I heard this story from one of my uncles who was a brave man instead of a chicken like me!
The story is....
One late evening my uncle was getting back from his elder sister's house. His sister lived in a village and he (my uncle) lived and did a job as a school teacher in a big city. But, during that time he was spending his winter vacation in their village farm house.
That day the weather was good, my uncle's farm house was situated 5 km far away from his sister's house. and, he decided to get b
This is a true story and I have witnesses who will assure you that this really happened at the house. It happened with my younger sister. We were in our teen years and summer vacations were going. During those days our state was struggling with power crisis and almost every night power was cut for 8-12 hours, yes that is almost all night.
As I said it happened with my sister, she was quite a tom boy and always tried to prove she never fears with anything. So we have a big 2 story house in villag

Ten years back, the scene was different. Gene's father was a pilot. He inherited a big fortune from his mother who used to own some lands in the country. He sold those lands and started his own project of the air taxi. His project started with one-engine planes to planes with two engines.
Bob, Sara's father used to work with him as an executive manager. Every single money was under his eyes. He told his wife to get rid of Rod. His wife
I was in a dense forest on MyEC Island, somewhere in the world. There were so many people and I didn’t know them so well. However, it is they who accompanied me there in happiness and laughter for 3 years. I was so kind and beautiful (LOL *kidding) that many people liked me. But since that day, everything has changed.
One morning, my body was transformed into something scary. Some sharp small swords grew in my both hands. I may not realize that I hurt people around me. My ears and nose were getti
Yes, a blog mod or the admin may try to feature some of the blogs posted here every day.
You may have wondered why your blogs failed to be featured or why some of the blogs are featured!
A blog mod may tend to feature the blogs that are readable, interesting, with few or no grammar mistakes. Yes, you bet the blogs must be written by MyEC members themselves, not copied from the Internet or plagiarized. Featured blogs may not be related to English learning or teaching but there are some taboos (sex,
NO GOODBYE
I just realized that I did not say goodbye because I don't want to.
I continue my life and stay strong because I have to.
Life goes on and you have to let go.
But please I don't want to say GOODBYE.
I know I am being too selfish , but please give me this moment to relish and remember You.
How I love and miss you.
Your love, thoughtfulness and care.
I know you are in better place now :)
Still I don't want to say goodbye
because you remain in my heart.
Love, your daughter

I decided to teach English in Shenzhen last May, but long before I signed my contract, I knew exactly what I would be doing during Spring Festival. As classes came to an end for the semester, I watched my friends plan trips to beautiful beaches, but I wasn’t jealous of their vacation plans for a second… I was busy reminding my fiancé to bring my parka as we would be heading north: to Harbin.
The flight from Beijing to Harbin was only about two hours. I sat giddily on the plane and read about the
Hi, my friends! It is time to post one more grammar test, isn’t it? You know what to do! You should correct all the mistakes without changing the meaning of my sentences. This test is not easy but it is not the toughest I can propose. So, here you are!
- At the bar I didn’t recognize the guy stared on me despite he rode the same with me cab.

OneeYes, Onee is now a blog moderator. Congratulations!
It makes sense we have an additional blog moderator - there are so many blogs posted here on MyEC every day, and sometimes I have difficulty adding comments or moderating blogs.
Onee has been an active member here - she enjoys reading and commenting on blogs, and she has also published a lot of interesting blogs. I really appreciate it!
So, I'm sure Onee will make a great moderator. Do you think so?
Yes, I've been having difficulty adding comments. You may have experienced the same issue.
It may have something to do with NING by which MyEC is powered - it seems NING has always been making some changes here.
Sometimes I need to click on the 'Add Comment' twice or more times before I can see the comment. It can be so frustrating, though - I hope everything will be back on track again!
That's why I suggest you 'strike while the iron is hot' - in other words, I suggest you enjoy writing blogs or a
What have you been learning from the university of life? Oh, sorry to confuse you with my question. If you haven’t encountered this expression yet, allow me to explain it in simple ways.
The phrase the ‘university of life’ does not exist at all. You cannot find it anywhere because it's not an academic institution or school. If people say this phrase, they are referring to their ‘life experiences’. In other words, it’s about a person who became wise or successful in a chosen field without taking a
This night, after staying up late as usually chatting in EC chat room, I finally hit the hay and almost immediately fell asleep, but I was not inundated with the usual night time visions, the phantasmagory that followed was way different, it was the most weird dream I ever had.
I found myself in an idyllic scenery - temple like building, all of white stone, broad streets running through lavish gardens, people joyfully discussing or just relaxing on the carpets of grass which seemed to spread ar
I bet you know what I'm trying to convey. Yes, I mean you can try to express the same idea in English with a different way, instead of the way that you may think is the only natural or right way.
For example, you can use 'amazing', 'excellent', 'fantastic', 'terrific', 'well down' or 'good job', instead of 'good' or 'nice'. You can say 'an extremely hot day' instead of 'a sweltering day' if you can't remember the word 'sweltering', which is what you really want to use.
It can be so monotonous, dul
