Mohatta Palace was built by Ahmed Hussein Agha on the request of the business tycoonShivratan Chandratan Mohatta. towards the end of 1920. It was used as the residence of Fatima Jinnah, the sister of Mohammad Ali Jinnah the founder of Pakistan. It was occupied by Fatima Jinnah after the formation of Pakistan for a long period after which it fell a victim of neglect and decay. The government of Karachi recently conducted extensive restoration work on the property and it is now the Mohatta Palace Museum, housing art and exhibits from Karachi's history and regional past.
