Now I understand. Since I am so used to the idea of the drum stick I did not realize it would appear like a joke to someone else. But if you are learning it for the first time then it would appear to be a joke. Here is a good example of the cultural aspect of language. You see, if I say I prefer the breast in my culture, some men will laugh and say, "me too" with a wink in their eyes because they are talking about women. I would never make that kind of joke, so I wanted to make sure you did not think I was being impolite. So this definitely shows cultural differences when we use language. I tell you this not to offend but to educate.
Mariluesa,
Here is another correction. I hope this helps. I respect your desire to learn English.
Teacher I have a very bad habit, writing without checking the spelling. You'll see it. I'm sorry, but I'll work better on it from here on.
I'd like to ask you a big FAVOR. Let me know when I make mistakes, because my time is very short and I'm not here to waste time, but to learn.
I like people and making friends, but my schedule stops me from doing so.
Most of the time I'm online to improve didactics and my English very late at night, and it takes me too long, since I'm addicted to English. I do love the language,
Teacher. Sorry again for having to take your time with me.
Have a super weekend!
Warm regards
Actually I did not make a joke. I prefer the breast meat on a chicken. We also call it the white meat as opposed to the other parts (dark meat). I don’t like the dark meat. There was no joke intended. That shows how vague English can be at times. I laughed to myself about your frustration with "get off on". I think that sometimes off is used for sudden acceleration. We take off in an airplane. We start off in a race. So get off on means to accelerate in your excitement.
You asked me to correct you so here we go.
Thank you very much for the info, besides the joke, cool.
I can see you're a real TEACHER. I mean some of them only work as teachers, but don't care much about the results or make the learning easier for their students.
I always do the same you do in order to help my students memorize, in addition to learn more. Sometimes I make a fool of myself to show I care about them. I don't want to be blamed if some of them give English up.
In fact English is much easier than Portuguese, but Brazilians are usually kind of lazy about everything, especially learning or filling an income tax form out. They usually leave it for the last moment on the last day....LOL, I, myself, am not like that. I'm a self-study student, and I've always been looking up new words, chants, phrasal verbs and so on, and I definitely fill my form out in time for the Internal Revenue.
Sorry I took your time on my subject.
By the way, I loved your post about phrasal verbs, but I just can't understand that "OFF". I thought I did before TODAY, but when I read "get off on", my gosh, how am I supposed to understand it, since "OFF" means to me something like "STOP", such as get on/off or turn on/off...
The leg of a chicken or a turkey that is cooked (broiled, boiled, roasted, fried, baked) is sometimes called a drum stick like the stick used to strike a drum. The chest part is called the breast. There also are the wings, the thighs and the neck. I am fussy and only like the breast.

Hello lady, how are you doing today? My name is Nass Jackson. I would like to practice language with you in exchange of my own language.
