Glady, I can help you. But, specifically I don't know what you want to know about life. If you are going to visit Istanbul, then you can have difficulty in getting accustomed to living in a big city. Istanbul is crowded and a complex city. You can be lost easily, so it is good to have a map with yourself. Prices are so so. Not so expensive, but not so cheap. Always try to make discounts, bcoz they always sell higher, and if you insist on they will do. Don't stay at a hotel, instead choose a pension, the are cheap and the quality is not bad.
Are you coming for a vacation? You should see these places: Topkapı Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, these places all are around Sultanahmet, according to your map, try not to miss them. Futhermore, Eminönü, Taksim (Galata Tower and Istiklal), Ortaköy, Bebek and Bosphorus.... Üsküdar, Kadıköy. There are more places, you can search them on the net.
Turkish people are helpful to help tourists, if you ask for direction or something else they will be willing to help you.
Also, try not to use servicing roads in the rush hours, in the morning at 7 or 8 and in the evening at 6 or 7. Istanbul's traffic can be annoying.
I don't have any idea about visa. But, I guess Iraqi people can enter Turkey easily.
I won't be around for a while. If you have other questions, I can answer when I am back.
