I write about Japanese year-end and New Year. THe 31st December is called "Oomisoka" 「大晦日（おおみそか）」 in Japan. Japanese people eat soba on this day. There are some theories about why Japanese people eat soba on this day, I think it's because soba is auspicious in the end.

Tonight I'm watching program about people who are doing good things for others .. One of them "Fearless Child" .. It's a story about 18 years old girl taking care of 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Her father died when she was 12, but her mother was drinking and didn't care about children! Mother rights were taken away from her. So oldest girl chose to be a mother to her brothers and sisters instead of going to study and making career :) 

    Well, twenty thirteen is coming fast. I wonder whether we are ready for it or not. In  twenty twelve, we had our ups and downs. Is it possible, we try to be better than that previous year? Wars, unrest, killing innocent people, changing regimes ,,, etc. Well, I hope we try to change ourselves in twenty thirteen.  Who knows it can be a year of change to the whole world.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Time flies quickly, doesn't it? We're now at the end of 2012 and it's time for us to make a New Year resolution for 2013. You may say you have never made any of such resolutions, then you're not alone in saying that. In fact, I find it difficult to stick to all the resolutions, too. So, I'd like to use this expression "I wish I could...in 2013."

At this time of year we often write wish lists for our loved ones. On my wish list was a coffee bean grinder and a novel by Kate Morton called "The Secret Keeper". I also asked my daughter to learn a song for me (see below). It's from my favourite Christmas movie, "The Polar Express". I'm hoping she'll sing it at our Christmas Eve celebration tomorrow night. 

I thought it might be fun to create an EnglishClub wish list. What would you like to see added to EnglishClub/MyEC in 2013? More podcasts?

The year is coming to an end. To blog about our experiences or great moments on MyEC would remind us how we're able to contribute our own little ways to make this site be continuously patronized and supported by many members regardless of their English levels or knowledge.
