The Spectacular Window

There is a window in my house that has wonderful views so varied that amuses everybody. Interestingly they are not always the same, I enjoy different scenery. If you like to discover deep inside forests you can do it through this window. If you like to see depth of the oceans, this window will take you there. If you want to go on top of the mountains covered with snow, this window will take you there too.

You can even watch the galaxy and our spectacular earth from outside, isn’t it amazing? It’s

There exists a ginormous area so unfathomably (without fathom- repeat 'unfathomable' five times fast. I dare ya!) large that human beings call it "space".

It takes the moon and a whole ocean to erase your mere footprints on the sand.

Light has traveled nearly 93 million miles unobstructed, but it is deprived of reaching the ground in the final few feet by your shadow.

The night sky is not a single moment. It's a mélange of time; billions of years in breadth.

Plus, not all starlight

Seeker's Writing challenge

It was raining heavily and she was in a hurry to go to college. She fell down near the college and got wet from head to toe. She came back home angrily and didn't attend her class that day.

Life has its own beautiful ways to teach you and transform you. Few simple habits and advices can change your life, just like I had experienced in my student life. When I was in seventh grade, my social science teacher asked me to participate in quiz competition. I was hesitating at first and was not very confident but she encouraged me. I started to prepare for the competition. The day before my quiz competition, I asked my father about some state's minister but he scolded me for not giving att

QUESTIONS

I woke up early today as usual. I was feeling something boggling my mind. What was that, a dream, a nightmare, or just some thoughts. I have always with one thought or the other or sometimes many thoughts at a time. They are just like the beloved who is loved so deeply that never depart. I went to the wash room, start brushing my teeth, I saw myself in the mirrors the curiosity was there in my eyes. Some questions were wavering either in my eyes or they were reflecting from the mirror.

I tried to

You may have noticed that there are so many native English speakers here on MyEC and most of them may actually be native English teachers.

I really enjoy reading their blogs and comments - I do appreciate all their great work here. I'm glad so many of them are trying to teach us English - I take my hat off to them!

Don't you think they are of great help? Do you think it's one of the attractions of MyEC, or can you think of a MyEC without native English speakers? And, which native speaker(s) here

As...as a...

Add color to the English language. How? You can use literary devicesidioms, similes and metaphors to name a few. Easy peasy! Writers and speakers use them to highlight an idea, or feature a certain characteristic of a person they're describing. A simile is a very powerful way to describe a character. Poets and writers can use them in their writings. Why can't you? How about some animal similes?

Writing For The Sake Of Writing

Hello Again everyone,

A few days ago I wrote a blog just because I wanted to practice my writing skill. It wasn't a very interesting blog and when I posted it I was sure that hardly anyone would read it or comment on it. However, the response was beyond my expectations and I'm so grateful to all of you for your priceless kindness.

My previous experience has given me the hope that sometimes even meaningless ranting could be a way to practice and improve writing skill and I'm so happy about that.

Steamed Fish with Chunks of Tofu

A few days ago, I was able to listen to a podcast from BBC Learning English website about chunks of language.

Chunks of language (as defined by BBC Learning English) are groups of words that naturally go together. They are fixed expressions used by native speakers of English. They can't be usually changed.

Based on my observation, you can find chunks of language through reading news articles and by watching English TV shows or movies. Idioms, sayings, and fixed coll

Ask Inspector Rebus!

A rebus is a puzzle in which words are represented by combinations of pictures and individual letters; for example, apex might be represented by a pic of an ape followed by a letter X. Kinda fun, huh? Now, let's make it really clear. Can you guess this one?

2B-or-not-2B.jpgBingo! That's Hamlet's iconic quote "To be or not to be". Now that you got the general idea, try to solve these:

Ooh, almost forgot. Use them in sentences, please. Cue Evil laugh!!! 3:]

A Struggle of Switching Job

Last month my friend told me that he was no more enjoy working at his workplace and  wanted to switch job in another place to gain different knowledge and experiment. Put aside his work on the company he still working at, he was wandering around to apply his letters and attend few job interviews until he got accepted at a company which will pay him double. When he came back to his old workplace to collect his documents and salary, that company refused to do it all beca
