Dear Muge (Mommy)

We have not kept in touch for  a long time and you may be wondering what  I am up to . I got a letter from you in Turkey , dated October 15th 2011. Much to my dismay , thanks to the crawling  postal service here in my country , I got it only today!

At that time I was not in Sri Lanka as I was in Australia for my daughter's graduation . I was  fortunate to make it with my husband  and share some  beautiful memories.

We left to Melbourne on October 7th,  very excited like two kids;

Actually I don’t want to use this title. But today, I have a “cold war” with my hubby. And he said : “honey, remember that You are my rib. If I want ….then I will take it again” hahaha….Really? Well, let me list what would happen if there were no women in this world.

       * Firstly,  Men would become fat because all  their time, They would only eat, sleep, drink…They wouldn’t go out. Their lives are bored. They couldn’t see any “wonderful things” in this word.

Hello friends, hope you all are doing well and in fine shape. I had been away for a while because I was on vacations. Also due to a mishap I lost my laptop, therefore I became irregular. Hopefully I will find ample time and means to be back in the main stream.

Now coming to the point, my purpose of writing this blog is to point out the falling numbers in blog entries every month. When I returned, approximately after a month or so, I have observed a sharp decline in the number of blog entries as c

My letter to Tara, about my visit to the Sahara

Dear Tara,

I am so glad you had an enjoyable trip to New York City. I can imagine how it was wonderful with your kids. I’m going to be a mother, and I know how it feels to be happy with your family in any place you put your feet in.

My husband Josef is interested in making Discovery Tours, for the first time he suggested visiting the Sahara last year in March, I thought he was joking, “What! A trip to the desert?!”… He insisted and I hesitated, howeve

Today is the Day of Memory and Mourning in Russia. 71 years ago on June 22,1941 Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union without declaring a war. It was a peaceful Sunday morning.... 4 am..............Thousands of innocent people died during the first hours of massive attacks. The Great Patriotic War broke out. In the world it's known as World War II, but in Russia it's known as the Great Patriotic War, because all people of Russia ( including women and children) defended their country. This war is

capitalize (verb): to write the first letter of a word with a capital letter

This month I'd like to challenge you to review the rules about capitalization. We don't use capitals very often. The 3 most common reasons for using a capital letter are:

1) at the beginning of a new sentence

2) for the pronoun "I"

3) the first letter of a proper noun

When I read the blog posts and comments on MyEC, I often notice people using capital letters incorrectly.

The 4 most common errors I see English learners making

On Saturday at 8:45 pm takes place a  match which electrify all my country.(POLAND!!!)

After draws with Russia and Greece( each 1:1) Poland has got real chance, not maybe to win a gruop, but to get a goal, which has been to came out form group.

There is only one condition, We have to win with the Czech Republic. Is it real? In my opinion yes. We have quite the same team. If we look deeper into both teams, we could see good and bad players on the first sight.

My 1st experience of real teaching.

Recalling memories brings lots of happiness accompanied by smiles that may be invaded by some of giggling. That's me when I recall my practicum in a public school. =))

As I was a student of education faculty, I was imposed to teach for 3 weeks in the last year of studying. My bad luck, as I thought, was to teach in a remote city where I had for about 90 students in a class. Yes, 90 Ss in a one small class. You could imagine how difficult is to master such a huge numbers of Ss and how to teach th

Trespassing to Russia.

There's a road in Estonia that pass through of Russian territory. The territory it pass, is called saatse boot. Because the border's line reminds the shape of a boot in map... Saatse is probably the name of place, but I don't know for sure.

No one knows exactly, why that boot is drawn to there. But it is. And there is a gravel road from Estonian side that pass through of that boot. There is a agreement between Estonia and Russia that local cars are allowed to freely pass through in there, but the

What I have learned ...

After nine months of teaching every year ,and when my vacation starts,I always ask myself these questions:

What I have learned this year  and what this job has  added to my personality .

What  I  have to do more to motivate my students: to make them first like the language, and try to improve  in all its skills .

Every year I can notice two kinds of students :

Those who want just to pass the exam, and others who want to make along term progress .that means teachers should be familiar with the

Follow me!

Follow me!

Hey, don't laugh! I'm not gonna ask you to follow me! ;) Actually, today I would like to introduce EC members to follow me! ;)

Actually, Follow me was a series of television programs produced by the BBC in the late 1970s as a crash course in the English language. It was popular in many overseas countries as a first introduction to English. Some of you might be already familiar with it. But the ones, who aren't familiar with it, would find this introduction very useful I believe.

The  use of the moderated chat at EC is to encourage the learner to read and further enhance  the development of Englishimages?q=tbn:ANd9GcT1XyWz8q61hwiYCo0nI41ZNs7CdSJJKxmWzl-PovkqzR85gxsa

New comers naturally may opt to their language , when that happens , we the regular members should correct  them and not  jabber in chatter be it Polish , Arabic  Tamil or  what ever! The reason so people will not get  distracted  or compete   tit  for tat "He spoke in  Russian  so I will speak in Polish !" Results in pandemonium  and confusion !thebox1.gif
