I found this thingy lurking on my baby Pomelo tree. He's eaten some of the leaves. I don't know if it would become a butterfly. Some people say it's a dragon. Others say it's a Pokemon character. What do you think? Could you guess what species this is?

Sure he is! I'd like to touch this too but I hesitated, besides he released an unpleasant odor from its head. Nature probably wants to remind us that there are living things that shouldn't be bothered, just to simply take a look at it.
By the way, I'm convinced this is a Caterpie! Gosh, I miss my childhood days playing pokemon cards and pogs as well as watching the cartoon show in Filipino language he he. :)
How cute! If only this will not itch me I could have kissed this…Haha! Yes, it looks like a pokemon character for me, it's CATERPIE…I know this belongs to Ash’s team.
This thingy looks deceiving though. Actually, you're not the first one to notice too. I shared this photo in a gardening group on Facebook and someone there kept insisting that this is fake he he. Anyway, it's sad to know that this thing of beauty is a pest. :(
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts about this photo. We tend to learn something new whenever we stroll around the garden.
Hello Robbie! In the beggining I thought it was fake. It looks something like a little doll made of fabric and cotton which at you put on the leaf. Then I read the comments and I got surprised!
Congratulations! You're correct! This is a Citrus Swallowtail Caterpillar who likes to devour citrus/lemon leaves. Too bad, I didn't see him smoking a hookah pipe. Perhaps he's too busy eating. How unfortunate to consider this as pest, though. I should probably keep an eye on my baby pomelo trees. We have lots of butterflies roaming around in my place so I would expect more of these.
Thank you very much for leaving a comment here and for sharing a worth reading link. I learned some vital information about this species.
Awww you're right! it looks a lil bit like a tiny chinese or japanese dragon haha... how cute. But it also reminds me the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland. Did you see it smoking a hookah pipe too?
Anyway, I'm afraid your new lil pet is "too fond" of your plants, Robbie :( But the good news is that it looks fatty enough to be soon like this:
Here you can check more info of you lil new 'friend':
Thanks a lot for the comment! Indeed, he looks astonishing. Also, it would be exciting to see him coming out of from the chrysalis. Every day is a learning opportunity whenever I'm hanging out in my tiny garden.
