The mother-to-be's only request is that there would be cupcakes at her baby shower. Check out the sweet table. All of the guests got to fill up a cute goodie bag to take home.Instead of cards to go with the shower gifts, guests were asked to bring a children's book signed to the baby to be. The book I brought was "How to Catch a Star" by Oliver Jeffers.

What a colorful table ! In Belgium, when a woman is pregnant, she goes to a baby shop to write a list of things she would like people to buy for the baby. In that way, all the gifts will be useful.
It's the same for people who will get married, they also go to a shop where all items for a house can be found. They choose what they like there and they make a list that will be visible to all the family and friends. On the invitation to the wedding the address of the shop where the fiances made their list will be written. So it won't be a headache for people to choose the right gift.
Yes, we have a sort of baby shower in our country, too. But it is not a set day to bring gifts. When a baby is born, the relatives and friends visit them at home ( or the most close relatives may visit them in the hospital when the baby is just born, for example, grandmas and grandpas may bring gifts with them there). Lately, my cousin has became a father. My mama and daddy went to their house and took a gift for the baby.

I want to add that, the customs may differ in different parts of our country.
Sometimes, the baby's family hold a party (usually they cook lamb); then when the guests come, everyone brings different kinds of gifts for them.
Nice shot. Thanks for sharing.
It was a nice idea to bring books.
