Barley is probably world most thorniest cereal crop. Or at least from all the crops, that farmers grow here in Estonia. I don't know any thornier than that...This summer I tried to take some photos of barley many times, because I think, it's good photographing material, with own long thorns on it's head, just have to find good angle and composition and etc. But I didn't have any luck this summer.. Wind always blew the crop away from focus and I couldn't figure out the best angle and composition and this and that and third too. :PMaybe I could have got a good result, if I had picked some plants up from field, and then photographed on desired location and background.. but I did not want to cut them, and didn't want to cut without owners permission. I did not want also to step into someone else field too. Had to try to get photo without stepping inside of field. And I thought, that the photo would be more worthy, if I take it there, on it's natural growing place and all..Well now the barley and also most of all other crops are already harvested long ago, and I can do nothing about it. Can only hope that I have better luck on next year. ^_^

Thank you Tara. My self don't find it so great though.. but that more I'm surprised to hear u liked it.
PS. As Thorniest I meant that it's thorns are long. Some other cereals have some thorns too but they aren't as long.
These thorns doesn't usually hurt when touch them.. I think. But they make it difficult to eat it for animals. ^_^
The thorns
Head. Not so blurred.
