Evangelina, I don't exactly remember the height. I think it was about 3000 m, maybe also higher. There are no fences. Exceptions are some viewpoints where you can go there just with cable cars and gondolas. (As a "normal" hiker you will take them ... a mountaineer would climb.) You must be in good physical condition. You must wear hiking shoes. Some people use hiking sticks. You must care for right clothes because the weather can change very quickly in the mountains. The best way for your security is also paying attention where you step because sometimes you hike one side close to the rock and on the other side is the abyss. There is often no way or at least a narrow path. There are only stones above the mountain's treeline. The hikes take many hours. It's exhausting but you get as a reward a great view. It's breathtaking, believe me.
