When I was kid, not just at my home but almost everyone in our small town used home stitched cloth bags for shopping grocery. When I grew up those got replaced by plastic bags and now seems big cities trying to go back to that good old tradition..
I remember when I and my classmates were holding a seminar about "Less Plastic Movement" as a persuasive to create an awareness in people. We used to give a tumbler as a seminar kit. But, unfortunately people (including me) only realized at that time. Nowadays, we come back to our bad habit.... using plastic bags! Also here, the policy of plastic bags payment isn't going well because of so many people here are cons. So sad.

@dara My grandmother always used string bags. So handy because very light and fold up to nothing. But I never see string bags these days...
