Hello. Thank you for taking a look at my photo. Yes. I already started eating the Hallaca. By December I will be fat. Hahaha. Fortunately, I will be in Russia and by host friends are Raw people.
Well. The Hallaca is wrapped with Palm leaves. You can also spell Hallaca with "y": Hayaca. This is our favorite Xmas dish and it is a very important meal for us.
Ingredients for the stew:
1. 2-3 lb of finely chopped stew beef 2. 1-1½ lbs of finely chopped pork meat 3. 1 small jar of capers 4. 32 oz jar gardener’s pickled vegetables 5. 1 cup of raisins 6. 1 cup of green olives 7. 2 leeks, washed and dried 8. 2 bunch of green onions 9. 1 head of garlic, peeled 10. 1 green or red bell pepper, chopped 11. Bunch of parsley 12. Bunch of cilantro 13. 2 big onions 14. 2-3 chopped tomatoes 15. 2-3 cups of chicken broth 16. Hot peppers or ají (chile) to taste 17. Salt, seasoning cubes or chicken broth cubes to taste 18. Black pepper 19. Sugar 20. Sweet red wine 21. Olive oil
Oriani, I think the Hallaca is very delicious....it's a typical meal for Xmas but you can't help eating it now, some weeks before the holiday. Happy Eating!
