It was inspired by the river next to the house where we lived during the course, and by a trip on a sailboat along the Turkish coast (Bodrum - Göcek). Look at the next picture: it's a wave in a river, toppling on a rock! I just call it "my wave". (It's also in my facebook-album...)
Not until now... it's somehow difficult, because I don't have the infrastructure to do it. Maybe next summer. Then I'd like to try a creation in limestone.
It has been cut out of a walnut-log (about 65 cm long and 15 cm wide), which was quite hard, but actually is one of the best woods for carving. I was mentored by an experienced sculptor during the process, from the first draft on paper, to the clay- and the plaster-model on to the sculpture you see on the picture.
