Machu Picchu is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It is nestled in the Andes Mountains in Peru (South America). Machu Picchu was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also is a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary (holy place). It is the most popular and last symbol of the Incan Empire and often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas" (Incas are an American Indian people in 1100-1533). Machu Picchu means ‘Old Peak’ or ‘Old Mountain’ in the Quechua Indian Language.
