The statue is in Aizu-Wakamatsu, Japan. She is 57 meters tall but we were able to climb up inside to over 50 meters. She is holding a baby which she is protecting. I don't know if this is a common theme in On other Buddhist countries or not. Thank you Phoenix, Hardy and Areality for your nice comments.
But I think that I would like the photo more, if u took it so that there would be some more air and sky above statue. It's a goddess of mercy, so it could look less dominating, or threatening.. More sky would maybe give a feeling of freedom and more cheerful..
Well, actually I don't know. Maybe it would then look just too ordinary.. average?
Or maybe it just need to look like this.. Yeah like I'm happy I'm still alive after seeing the photo.. That it did not step out from the frame to come to kill me, so I already feel the mercy of godess. :P LOL
The statue is so tall that it can be seen all across our valley. It was one of the first landmarks that I noticed when I moved here. It is not down in the valley but actually up the mountain a little ways.
