July #4: Islands - In Hokkaido

The photo was captured at Shikotsu-Toya National Park this April. I'm not sure how to translate the four islands' names in English, that are on the central part of Toyako Lake. Allegedly, they were formed by lava about 50,000 years ago. The hot spring here is quite famous.

  • Oh, I see. The distance is a problem, but perhaps your dream still can come true one day somewhere. :)

Bathing in hot spring in Japan is quite impressive. Instead of wearing swimsuit in the public pools, people there have to take a shower and can't wear clothes going to the pools. It's a sort of a good way people can get together and be social each other, I guess.

  • Hi, Grace! You even bathed in hot spring!?!! Great! I thought you only watched it! Wow! You described your bathing there in such an exciting way, that now I also want to try it! You're right there're hot springs inRussia, but so far away from Saratov, on the opposite side of Russia ( not far from you, by the way)! You know our distanses!!! It'll take me a whole week to get there by train and it's rather expensive. I even don't consider the variant with plane. So, it's only a dream.....

  • Teacher Galina,  yes, it is. Right, I went there with my colleague.  It was an exciting and interesting experience to have a hot spring. It will make your body relaxing, enhance metabolism, also help your skin look smooth. It's worth to try it if you have a good chance. :)  BTW, no hot spring in your country?

  • Junco, that's a good idea of spending a few days there. The lake and hot spring here are both impressive. I believe you'll have a good time. :)

  • So, these islands are in the middle of the lake? Wow! Have you been there, Grace? I've never seen a hot spring in real life. It would be so exciting to see it!

  • It's easy to figure out where the four islands locate from the map below.
