I took this picture 6 years ago. I'm sorry for the bad quality but actually it wasn't allowed to take pictures here so I had to take it very fast! --yeah I know! I'm a law breaker! :(I hid myself between other people who was there to take the pic. Needless to say I didn't use flash, because that's what can really damage the paint: I'm a law breaker but not a vandal! :3Can anyone tell me which popular ceiling is it? :P

Wow.. great ceiling! What a pity that you couldn't take more photos. I would like to see the other parts of the building. Anyway, thanks for sharing Mary :)
Haha..interesting, Mary! Well, it's not ironic at all. When it comes to artwork, I think, it could be seen purely as two things. :) Reading your comments about these anecdotes is so enjoyable. Thank you, Mary!
Risty, oh you are a lil law breaker too! haha, nice! Well, usually you can take pictures in museums or places like this one without flash, but in this case you can't take pictures at all. I guess there are two reasons: First one because of security issues, since the Michelangelo's paintings are priceless and can't be covered by any protection. And the other reason I guess it's because of commercial matters: The Vatican city is full of places for selling merchandising (postcards, books... all what you can imagine with the art pieces you can find there) So, I guess they think that if you can't take pictures of the Sistine Chapel it would be more easy to sell a postcard with the image. You know... Jesus preached humility and austerity, but it seems Popes, Bishops and Cardinals didn't read these chapters in the Bible ;)
Kal, thank you so much for your nice words! :)
Robbie! Yeah you're right, but I don't mind when it's for the security of the art piece. Other thing is, as I commented in my reply to Risty, when they don't allow to take pictures because they wanna sell books and postcards at the store of the museum. But well... it's a business anyway :)
Oh! Do you wanna visit La Sagrada Familia? Nice! Probably you're gonna make fun of me but, can you believe I haven't seen it indoors? I've been there a couple of times but the line for coming inside is always so long that I've no patience for it! XD
But let me know if you come to visit Spain! Thanks for dropping by!
Eva! thief? Nooo I didn't steal anything (I wish tho, I could be millionare with whatever thing stolen from the Vatican hahaha)
But I'm glad to know that you and Risty would break the museum laws with me! haha, we can be a good team! ^_^
Yes, the pic was taken in the Vatican City, in Italy. There are also some small anecdotes that I've told in my comment to Grace about it :)
Yes, you explained very well in your picture what is a fresco, and that's how were made this Michelangelo's paintings. You can imagine how hard is to paint a ceiling like that with that technique... Michelangelo did it being laying down and he almost ended up blind because the paint was dropping in his eyes. It was a really hard work, but now is one of the most important artworks in the world :)
Grace! Yup! It's the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican City ^_^ It's probably the most popular ceiling :) Btw that link you shared, woah! It's really cool to see it like that... and empty! haha... Thanks!
This picture has more than one anecdote. First one is that I almost miss it! Can you imagine how clumsy am I?! hahaha... I had this place in my mind as a very big room, and the scene of The Creation as a very big paiting as well (I guess you all know the most popular scene here, and also that it was all made by Michelangelo)
I was so eager to see for real this scene and... I almost couldn't find it! hahaha... The Chapel and the paintings are actually small... or at least, smaller than how I had imagined. But the thing is that the chapel was full of people (that might make it look smaller) and the ceiling is super high (that might give the impression of the paintings being smaller than how actually are)
Well, I've to say that as you might know, I'm atheist but I'm an art lover, so I couldn't skip to go to the Vatican to see in real the artworks made by Michelangelo, among other things. And another nice anecdote about all this is that me (atheist) went to the Vatican City (Catholic place) with a muslim friend! Isn't it a nice irony? ;)
It's still a great shot, Mary! At least you have something to remember by. It's unfortunate that it's prohibited to take a photo of famous cathedrals for security purposes. Do you have an idea if it's also prohibited to take a photo inside the Basilica de Sagrada Familia in Barcelona? It's in my bucket list to visit it! :)
