English as a Second Language

Just a draft. Thank you people in the chatroom who answered my survey. This will be posted on my blog once completed.

Usually, when one says "English as a Second Language," he pertains to the functionality of English; therefore studying grammar and syntax. I would like to think of "English as a Second Language" as a cultural instrument.

Although considered as the universal language or lingua franca, English is not the language that is most widely spoken. This is because languages such as Spanish

Have you seen the beautiful welcome messages that some members of our Welcoming Committee have created? These members create their own images and text to place on the walls of new members.  Ali inspired many members to do this. These messages sometimes include useful links. I am so thankful for the members who take the time to do this good deed. It means so much!

Here is a new MyEC challenge for you inspired by Ali: Create your own MyEC Welcome Message

2346171858?profile=originalWhat kind of food accompanies you while you're online? This is my first question to you and myself. I tell you, one of the favorite foods that commonly accompanies me when I am online ... is shrimp vegetable fritter (bakwan udang). I'm able to digest more than ten pieces, the reason why I got fat now (haha ..). Fried food is very simple and can easily be cooked (visit this link : recipe shrimp vegetable fritter).

In Indonesia, generally this cuisine is served during rest time, while watching T

It is a wonderful feeling  being  loved and cherished and of course made to feel special on a paticlar  day , to all moms  in general.

Of course reading  a few extracts here and  there on  other links ,  there are children  who cannot lovingly remember their moms

I felt sad reading these comments  , articles of difficult moms, who  never shared their  love to the kids  they bore. It is sad in todays  fast moving world with all IT at  the tip of  our  fingers , not being able to give the warmth ,

happy mother's day!!!

Every year we celebrate this occasion. "Mother's day" for me is always special because that reminds me why I'm here on earth, but of course, it was God in the first place and they were just an instrument to create me. As I'm saying, we do celebrate it yearly. My siblings and I think of a special gift to give to our mother and treat her to some nice restaurant that she want. We want her to feel how thankful we are to have her in our life and how proud we are that she is our mother and sh

Destiny is in our hands!

2346195820?profile=original

Destiny is in our hands.  Whatever we do at present time molds what we become in the future.   If we want to have a good future, we must make a good start.  If we want to have a stable job of course we must be educated and to become educated we should finish our studies to attain our goal. Dream is only in our mind, it helps us to become motivated and determined to make it happen.

But if we only dream and do nothing to make it possible, it is totally useless.  We, ourselves creating our future..

It is true that we have to teach our children how to get their wants and not to hand it to them.  In other words, teach them how to catch a fish and not give them a fish that is ready to eat! If not, your children will become lazy and dependent.  Some people who've grown up with a better living, become not interested on their studies or work by themselves because even they don't work still they can have their needs and wants... from their parents.  Make them realize, having a good life requires

The danger of a single story

I saw it on Ted.com this video, I saw Oksana has Ted's link also, then, here's someone who likes this one: The danger of a single story. Good English, clear voice, beautiful explanation and a remind for all of us to check our ideas from time to time (I know, you don't need it but, what happen with the rest of us?)

I was remembering a story told it by a cinema director: "We were looking for some one which talks in ""African""... finally they've found a man who spokes as they wanted, dark skin, mou

Hi friends! here is a little gift together a little job, hope you like them. Come on then.

Did you bind any book? Do you know what is a booklet? This is the job (it is not a very difficult hand job).

Download the attached tale and print it, both faces, the whole tale  –it has eighteen pages in A4 format, here is the common home printers' size–

Once printed, look for a page numbered 10-11. You'd have a bunch of papers from the first to the tenth (B1 on the scheme) and another one which begins on pag
