Add color to the English language. How? You can use literary devices—idioms, similes and metaphors to name a few. Easy peasy! Writers and speakers use them to highlight an idea, or feature a certain characteristic of a person they're describing. A simile is a very powerful way to describe a character. Poets and writers can use them in their writings. Why can't you? How about some animal similes?

- As fast as a cheetah
Ah, the irony...
- As graceful
