My dear friends and my genious students!  Today I am proposing you a little bit different challenge. I am posting the sentences containing idioms, phrasal verbs, etc. and I propose you to rewrite these sentences using the synonyms. The synonyms shouldn't be idioms. In the examples the idioms are in bold. So, I will show you what I mean. 

The given sentence:

At last he found what he had been looking for.

The reply:

He finally found what he had been looking for.

Translating is really hard. Most Languages don't usually translate directly. However, when we are using our second language, we naturally translate it in our heads, using our native language.

for example; Lets assume your second language (L2) is English, and your native language (L1) is Arabic. You are having a conversation with a native English speaker, when he speaks you listen, and you naturally translate his words into Arabic in your head. Now you think of the appropriate response in Arabic,

1) He was Fed up with taking care of his old mother and carried her on his back to leave her in a distant valley.

2) On his way, he fell down and hurt his leg.

3) He heard that his mother was mumbling:" Oh my dear son. Let me bandage your leg."
