Some people think sports occasions are essential in easing international tensions and releasing patriotic emotions. I agree with part of this opinion, to my point, I prefer using 'probable' to 'essential'.
As we know, sportsmenship has no boundary among the countries all over the world. Every aspiring athelet is focus on improving their skills in order to make their sports dream come true. Without considering of politics, religion, and race, people just enjoy in sports! Also, countries which are involved in the sports occasions are eager to get their best achievements with the equal standerd in a harmonious environment. As the result, people have precious chances to realize each other peacefully. I do believe that situaion is all people and countries' hope with nature.
About the successful example, here is it. A famous diplomacy called 'PingPang diplomacy', which was proposed by ex-president and most brilliant leader of China Mao Ze Dong, started a new age of diplomacy relationship between China and United States. Chinese players of table tennis went to visit America for teaching and communicating skills with American players. In fact, that's really a remarkable turning in histories of China and America. Despite two countries still had a lot of different opionions inevitably, Americans started to read new china again with throwing the old minds.
On the other hand, some opponents claim that sports occasions will cause new arguments even voilences or riots because of over releasing patriotic emotions for being winner. Honestly, that's definitely a problem. However, is there any diplomacy could guarantee of resolving all the international problems without any negative impact? I don't think so, please let sports diplomacy be a option of easing international tensions. At least, it's better and safer than military intervention or other forced way.
In conclusion, every coin has two sides, building sports occasions for easing misunderstanding and strengthening communication is really a enforceable method.

hi ,smith, thanks your comment~~ very much~
i agree with you that shifting the real fighting in war accasion to sports fighting in studium is totally a wiser and better choise.
I never think of the question if it's proper to raise the national flags or play the national anthems in a sport when the countries become the winners.Maybe I have been accustomed celebrating for winner like these ways, of course, another reason is my country usually on the top of the scoreboard..... when you mentioned the question, i really realised that that way is definitely hurt the feeling of countries which are not usually getting the medals and maybe is a kind of distorting the spirit of the Sports Occasion.
BUT... we have to admit that the world is not a ideal world, and a kind of person nature is fighting. so ,what can we say?
SO, as you said in comment, avoiding fighting in reality and let those who want to fight go to the stadium in sports occasion for getting medals for showing their power and superiority, rather than fighting for victory in a real battlefield.
I TOTALLY AGREE.
Hello Idealist,
This is a great topic my friend. I would like to say that violence happen in a sport event when fans of a particular team do not want to accept defeat. They sometimes forget the true essence why sports are made. To unite countries and raise funds to help the poor. I believe sport events help to strengthens the ties between each countries, even in different beliefs, race and religion. Thanks for this blog. You deserve to be featured here.
Interesting topic!
So, we should make sure why atheletes take part in the sports competetion such as the Olympic Games. Some may compete for the medal, honour, or money, but some do compete for their countries.
Do you think it's necessary to raise the national flags or play the national anthems in a sport?
Especially in the Olympic Games, everyone seems to care about the medal table/count. Some countries such as the Unite States, China, or Russia usually get a lot of medals and appear at the top of the table. So, only too often, you see their flags being raised and anthems played. What about the feelings of those from other countries that can't get so many medals?
What does 'more medals' really mean?
Dose it mean the national power, or superiority? The more medals, the more power? That may be a real concern for some of us.
Do you think sporting events are a useful substitute for war?
Most of us want peace. So, we try to avoid war and let those who want fight go to the stadium for more medals, rather than go to war for the victory in a real battlefield.
