  • Thanks Karenina!

To tell the truth, I don't really like Tennis - I even wonder why this sport is so popular in the West! Yes, I used to like football/soccer, but you know China's football team is always a loser. I also like badminton, but it's not a suitable sport for me any more - the sport can be too tough, especially when you're playing it at a higher level.

Does a win really mean something?

  • Congratulations to Nadal! I know Nadal is a very very great player. How could a player play so well?
  • Manuela,

Thanks for the comment! Li Na's success may let people think about what can be a more suitable way to train athletes. And, I guess you must be a tennis fan. I don't really know about tennis, though.

  • Hello again Expector

Yes, i saw the chinese flag, of course. It's not because she is an independent player that she is not proud to win for her country. It's not what i meant Expector, i am sorry if i was not clear in what i wrote.

  • Hi Manuela,

I somehow failed to watch the final. Yes, she left the national team years ago, but still competing for China. Didn't you see China's national flag was raised when she won the match? And, she wants to get a gold medal in the upcoming London Olympics for her country (China).

It's great to know a player from Asia (other than Europe or America) has won the Open, because it's good for tennis to be played/loved around the world (not only in Europe or America).

  • Hello Expector,

I watched the game and i thought about the joy you would feel when Li Na won ! What is fantastic is that, this young journalist is an independent  tennis player, what i mean is that she is not sponsored by the chinese state. She did it all by herself ! I guess tennis is going to become famous now in your country :))

  • She is the first one from Asia who has ever won a Grand Slam champion!
  • Yes i saw the news about her

A woman full of talent :)

  • PARIS (AP)—Li Na ended China’s long wait for a Grand Slam champion Saturday, defeating Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 7-6 (0) in the French Open final.

The Australian Open runner-up celebrated by falling flat on her back in the red clay after Schiavone hit a backhand long on match point.

“Today is the dream come true,” Li said. “Not so many player can win (a) Grand Slam.”

The crowd at Roland Garros was dotted with red Chinese flags and a small vocal group supporting Schiavone. They watched as Li dropped her serve for the only time late in the second set.
