Wrong Text Message

It happened two years ago. One day, my niece who was just still in 3rd grade of elementary school found her lips bleeding because she just hit the wall. Then she borrowed her mother's cell phone to report it to her father. "Pa," she wrote, "My lips hit the wall and they are bleeding. It hurts." But she didn't understand when she read his father's reply. It was written: "It would have been great and tasty if you'd hit them to mine instead of the wall. Don't you think?" Lol!

Conflict Resolution

2346504656?profile=original

As English learning friends of mine graduate and find themselves in the work force, I am beginning to hear complaints from some of them about how terrible the job is, how terrible the boss is, or how unkind their co-workers are. Often their first reaction is to try and find a job somewhere else. Anywhere but here. There may be times when moving on is the best choice, but I would suggest you at least think twice about it before you leave.

When we first enter the work force, we have high ideals an

Hello my dear EC members,

It's me once again here at the end of the year 2012. So, what do you do or what do you remember on the last day of the year on MyEC? It must be different-different things to do and to remember for each and every one, but as it comes to me then the last day of the year is a special day for me on MyEC. It's the day when I say 'good bye' to the calender year and to MyEC year. Don't misunderstand me, I am not saying 'good bye' to MyEC, but it's the day when I joined MyEC in

Hello MyEC friends,

This is not my personal voice blog, but many of friends' who helped, sang, and cooperated together.

Few days ago, I came out with an idea of singing the song Happy New Year of ABBA for MyEC to celebrate the upcoming new year. I told with Junco that this is inspired by one of her blogs before. She was worried initially that the notes of the song she may be hard to hit, but finally she agreed gladly to join in with me, and instantly helped to recruit some friends to take part i

My Second (first) blog!

Hello Everyone, I am Owais Sheikh. I am from the country Pakistan. I live in the city of Karachi. I work as an SQA (Software Quality Assurance) Engineer since two years.

How my path intersected with My English Club (EC) is somewhat similar to others. Although my basics were good enough in English to survive through my student years. I was very fortunate to have studied under some excellent teachers who instilled belief in me that I was on the right path. But when I made the cross over from studen

How Do YOU Organize Your Life?

2346502456?profile=originalMy husband’s desk is always neat and clean, with maybe one or two stacks of things “to do.” You can see him in the picture, and a desk that is pretty clean. All that is on his desk is a monthly calendar, the book on Egypt’s Nefertiti he is currently reading, a book by C.S.Lewis that he keeps trying to read but is really not very interested in, but he feels he should read it because his son recommended it to him. Also, there is the TV remote, ONE pencil, another calendar, 2013, smaller, that our

Welcoming New Year

2346502232?profile=original

Hi all, about 27 hours from now on (in India), we will be entering into 2013. So many centuries have passed by, generations have witnessed these unique entries in the new year. Millions of SMSes are ready to shoot, emails have pulled up their sleeves, shops are lighted to attract customers, hotels are being booked to boos, eat and dance, people are ready to forget negative events happened in 2012 and are wishing to have positive thoughts flowing across the globe.

There is great economic impact o

2346502151?profile=originalHow I wish this blog could jump into the hundredth directly. As you can see, it's merely 28th until now. I'm unable to achieve my wish of making 100 voice blogs by the end of 2012 within two days, unless I have magic. So, I'm ready to throw in the towel, but that doesn't mean I'd stop voice blogging anymore. On the contrary, as long as I'm available I'd keep doing so because I know I've been learning many from preparing voice recordings. Compared to my very first one, I've overcome great fear of

When Pigs Begin to Fly – (Part 3)

To read the second part of the story click here.

I remember the tenderness with which Anele tried to soothe my Twin and me all my life. We had lost our parents after a fire incident and since then Anele, she was older than us, was like a mother to us. Now, I have the agony which I awoke with after all these years, and turned my eyes, so tearful and dull, to the walls, all over stone cold, away from making a home, with the dim light, which is pallid to me, and yet more pallid each day. Gradually,

During the coming year, may you have

Enough happiness to keep you sweet,

Enough trials to keep you strong,

Enough sorrow to keep you human,

Enough hope to keep you happy,

Enough failure to keep you humble,

Enough success to keep you eager,

Enough friends to give you support,

Enough wealth to meet your needs,

Enough determination to make

each day better than the day before

and, last but not least,

Enough love to keep your heart warm.

My best wishes to all of you,

Japanese year-end and New Year

I write about Japanese year-end and New Year. THe 31st December is called "Oomisoka" 「大晦日(おおみそか)」 in Japan. Japanese people eat soba on this day. There are some theories about why Japanese people eat soba on this day, I think it's because soba is auspicious in the end.
We hear year-end gongs on the eve of New Year. The gongs are struck 108 times because men are disabused 108 worldly desires to strike the bell 108 times in Buddhist beliefs.
We eat New Year's food during the first three days of Janu

Hello everyone!

I really got a kick out of reading this story that I've just collected from the internet. Here is  THE SOURCE I'd like to share with you all and let's learn together in having fun :)

HOW TO PLAY THE GAME?

Because the story was written in so many idioms and it seems to be difficult for us to understand the content if we didn't know all those idioms in it. So, each of us has to find out one by one and beside, giving the meaning and the sample sentence for that idiom we just find.

Perfect Pronunciation Exercises

2346501156?profile=originalThe following is a total reproduction of what I stumbled upon the online Merriam-Webster Learner's Dictionary site. I'm neither the creator nor rightful owner of it! I decided to share the exercises with EC members after I found that they would be very useful to those who are serious about improving their pronunciation, especially some problematic pairs of the vowel sounds  and consonant sounds alike!  It  would be to your  advantage to do  these  exercises. Happy learning!.

In my earlier blog I had a mention of trying to think about world peace by bloggers as a contribution through blogging. How can it be done? One of the effective ways would be `sharing ideas` of `how` can this be achieved.

I am trying to share one here:

WP idea 1: Help people to open up

Peace is difficult to achieve if our expressions are pending. each of us are very happy when we are able to openly share any thing we wish to. Few of us can do it, however, most of us cannot not due to many reasons
