Misery of a Lover

This is on the motivation from Expector's Tips on English Usage (8): I was wondering

I phoned her whether she would be able to come to see me.  I wondered if I might be turned down, but instead my request was wonderfully accorded to.  I was wondering how could it happen in spite I was hoping it to be happened that way.  She never responded to me like she did that day.  I was afraid she could refuse to my request.  I was thinking, knowing her indifferent attitude towards me, she might have got som

Yes, you can use the past progressive/continuous or past simple tense to make a request or suggestion sound more polite, for example, you can say "I was wondering/I wondered if you could comment on my blog", instead of saying "You should try to comment on my blog".

In addition to 'I was wondering/I wondered', you could use 'I was hoping', 'I was thinking' or 'I thought' instead of 'I hope' or 'I think' to express politeness. That is to say, the past simple or progressive tense can have present o

Dancing Is Praying

Life is a song; for some it’s a short song and for some it’s a very long song but for everyone it has both sad and happy melody. A song should be sung otherwise it’s in vain.
Some believe that we ourselves write and play the song while others believe that God, destiny or whatever has already written the song and we just play it.

Where do I want to go by all this; actually I love exercising and I also love music; now imagine if these two are combined together the result will be something amazing.

An English Crash

We all are using  English language day to day. If the usage goes wrong, the result will not be a disaster. Chances are less.

I am going to write a story of aircraft crash due to English language.

A good day morning in a pilot training school, a instructor and a trainee  planned to do a flight. This flight is trainee's last flight with trainer. Trainer instructed trainee to control total flight without his support. If any issue comes during the flight,  trainer will tell the trainee and trainee s

Once a father and his hideous daughter who lived in a rural village visited a city for the first time. They were amazed by almost each and everything they saw there. After walking around the city for some time, they went to a big mall and were dumbfounded when they saw the two walls that could move apart and slide back together again.

The girl asked her father, "Oh, father, what is this?"

The father who had never seen an elevator before said, "I have never seen anything like this before, my dear

“Let’s do it! I’m so ready, in spite the fact that I heard it’s a bit painful, and I know I can manage to do it” –my encouraging words for myself that morning.

12:01 pm, I forgot that I haven’t eaten yet, but this particular event scheduled today has no intention to move in favor of my grouchy stomach, I remember I haven’t taken my supper as well. What’s going on with me? I’m packing my things, my notebook and a bottle of water. Right! I have a bottle of water; this could be enough for now, to su

A very thin man was married to a woman having bulky figure. He was so worried about how he would tackle such a giant wife. He consulted with his closed friend before a day in his (groom's) room. He (friend) pointed to a picture hanging on the wall in which a thin man climbed over an elephant commanding it to a certain direction and said, " you don't need physical strength to control your wife, but to use your brain". He might have a positive message for this groom. The next day, his friend was in

See the dent above your upper lip? I’ve been thinking; long long long long time ago, someone told us a secret and then put their finger on our lips and said, “Shh!”

Now, here’s the $64,000 question: What is that big a** “secret”?

Adapted from The Prophecy (1995)

It is not too weird having an accident or incident while you are on holidays abroad but you never think of it since the aim of your trip is to enjoy discovering new amazing lands. 'It happens to others but not to me', that might be the normal thought one's can have till the victim is you. When you're unexpectedly involved in such event thousands of kilometres far from home, you (and your partner) are totally dependent on the people around to help you but then it reaches a point in which communica
