My dear friends! Being a professional teacher of English grammar, I decided to start this group to help you improve your knowledge of the subject. Many members asked me to do it and I do feel like that! So, I am planning to start a few discussions where you will be able to ask me questions or to have some practice. I'd also like to involve my husband, a native speaker, who is supposed to be helpful. So, how do you feel about such a group?
Rewrite into a passive sentence: "You haven't given the gift to Pete"
Is it not "The gift hasn't been given to Pete by you" ? I was marked down for writing my answer as such instead of "The gift to Pete hasn't been given by you". How is it any different?

Thanks....and lol yes!
So, they were gloating over us means....later the cats found they were lucky enough not to get chance to walk out as who went out they got soaked top to bottom, is it?
Dear Rene, the second is correct.
Did you use to go there ?
It is the past simple tense. If you ask a question with DID (and it is correct) a verb must be without -d (-ed). I think you know that this expression means some habitual action in the past (but not now)
Hello Dear Tanya, please help in that....I'm confused about used to......which one of these two sentences is correct ? 1 ) did you used to go there ?2) did you use to go there ?
Hi, dear Bet! I do recognize my hubby's style! LOL!
TO GLOAT means to contemplate or dwell on one's own success or another's misfortune with smugness or malignant pleasure. I doubt our cats feel somethng like that! Hahaha!
Look, to do a picnic is incorrect. We can say
We decided to have/make a picnic.
We decided to go for a picnic.
We decided to junket (AmE)/to picnic
Hello dear Tanya!
I wanted to know the meaning of.... the cats were gloating over us! actually gloating is a new word to me.
Any difference between we wanted to do a picnic and we wanted to have a picnic?
Dear Maryam, Mohammed, welcome to my group!
Hi, everyone! Sorry fornot answering earlier. We are on vacation but it it is so rainy today and we have nothing to do but to stick before the screens.
Wizar, your sentences are correct meaning the voices. However, "Money has not been kept by me" may mean you are not able to keep them in your wallet and waste everything you earn. You have no savings. Got it?
